Many questions have been raised in the past few months with the University of Tennessee. First, the football team with Lane Kiffin having multiple NCAA violations, and having three players trying to rob a person outside of a convenience store while wearing UT football gear... smart. Then to ring in the New Year, Bruce Pearl's basketball team had four players get pulled over as the car smelled like the happy grass and thats wear they found a bag of weed, plus a bunch of guns. You stay classy Vols!
Anyways, the Tennessee Athletic Department did the right thing today when they kicked Tyler Smith off the team after being brought up on felony weapons charges. who is their leading scorer and arguably their best player. The other three players are still suspended indefinetly but they only got brought up on misdemeanor charges. Unlike professional sports, I think college sports is no place for guns and if athletes get caught with them, I feel that should be a first-strike clear your locker type of thing.
It's sad that people in college athletics feel the need to have guns. Do you really need to protect yourself in place that loves you? Yes, football is the first there but Pearl has done a fantastic job in building a great program that people seem to love there. Why do you need to be strapped Smith when people see you on campus probably gives you daps and pounds. Smith who probably could have at least been in the D-League next year or maybe even an NBA roster. It saddens me to see his college career end this way but it's his fault for acting like an idiot.
