Weekly Picks Where Basketball Becomes Exciting

Well another lost from Marquette this weekend and honestly, I didn't expect much from the game. Mach tells me that Junior Cadougan looks 1000 times better than Mo Acker and Cubi so I am excited to watch the Golden Eagles against Rutgers.

Monday
11. Georgetown at 4. Syracuse- A great game to start the week off and a classic rivalry in the Big East. The Hoyas are slowly improving and Austin Freeman/Chris Wright have been doing some major work since they lost to MU a couple years ago.  The Orange need a big game out of Andy Rautins and their big men inside to stabilize Greg Monroe inside.  I think the Hoyas win a close one. GTOWN 69-65

Missouri at 2. Kansas- The Border War reignites tonight and the Tigers aren't ranked yet they are a very nasty team with their coach Mike Anderson who gives "40 Minutes of Hell" with a consistent press  but the Jayhawks have been the toughest team at home this season so far, therefore I have a hard time seeing them lose.  KU 76-69

Tuesday
5. Michigan State at Michigan- Another great rivalry this week and the Wolverines will be getting back Manny Harris, which will help them out and they are always tough at home. The Spartans face another tough road game after barely pulling it out against the Gophers, I think Michigan pulls off a nice upset, I like their size and speed.  MICH 64-62

13. Kansas State at Baylor- I was disappointed to see K-State lose their next game after knocking off Texas and now they face an athletic Baylor team on the road with Kansas in their sights.  They cannot have the Jayhawks on their minds because the Bears will beat them, I doubt Frank Martin lets that happen.  KSTATE 75-71

1. Kentucky at South Carolina- A new number one with a coach who feels his team is 11-8 because they have had a bunch of close games.  The Wildcats blow out of Arkansas was very impressive and the Gamecocks suffered a demoralizing loss in Florida on Saturday. I have a tough time seeing South Carolina coming back from that but Devin Downey vs. John Wall is a sight to see.  UK 79-73

Wednesday
Notre Dame at 3. Villanova- In my opinion, Nova and Kentucky are the two best teams in college basketball. I think Scottie Reynolds might be the National Player of the Year right now but they are undersized, having to deal with Shrek. I think the Irish give a good effort, but not enough. NOVA 83-74

23. Vanderbilt at 14. Tennessee- After doing so well, the Volunteers got demolished on the road on Saturday and now face a difficult Vandy team who has been playing better in the past couple weeks. The Vols will pull this one out and the Commodores will keep it close.  TENN 77-73

Texas Tech at 6. Texas- I was surprised to see the Longhorns lose back-to-back games and now looking for their idenitity a little bit.  The Red Raiders couldn't stop a high school offense so the Horns should rebound nicely.  UT 93-84

Florida State at 7. Duke- The Blue Devils looked unbelievably impressive against Clemson on the road on Saturday and now face a team that always seems to give the Dukies more trouble than they should. The Seminoles pulled a nice upset as well this weekend, expect a close one with the home team winning.  DUKE 79-74

Thursday
16. Wisconsin at 12. Purdue- It will be interesting to see what happens in this game because the Badgers for the most part have played well without Jon Leuer and he didn't really do much the first time these two teams played. But I think the Boilermakers will make a statement in this game and Wisconsin has been awful in West Layfette throughout the years.  PURDUE 65-57
