Jim Leavitt Meets Mike Leach at a Bar...

What do you think that Leavitt and Leach would talk about?  Probably, how they screwed up perfect things at their respective universities by mistreating players and having noisy parents in their program leading to their asses canned looking for a new job.

If you didn't hear about Leavitt who was formerly the Head Coach of the University of South Florida, there was an investigation that Leavitt had choked and slapped a player.  While the investigation was going on, there are reports from all over that Leavitt tampered with evidence leading to his dismissal as head coach. Which probably means that Leavitt actually laid the smack down on the player. Now I defended Coach Mike Leach saying "it wasn't a big deal" and I think this is more of a serious issue plus I think with Leavitt getting involved with the evidence, its pretty clear he actually did harm the player.

College athletics are not the 1980s or even the 1990s anymore meaning that coaches cannot do some of the things that they saw their mentors and guys who they coach under do.  One of the best coaches in Tosa West history offered to help coach our youth team in 6th grade and then he whipped a player down by their facemask, which led to parental outrage. It's just something that you cannot do anymore and it's a good move that the Bulls fired him despite building this program from the ground up.

Good stuff, Chuck.

It'll be interesting to see how Leavitt will be remembered in Tampa.

Here's my take on the firing(s).
