The Tide and the SEC Rolls Again in the BCS National Championship

If you remember, I wrote in the month of November that I felt that the Pac-10 this year was better than the SEC, top to bottom.  But I must say the top two teams of the SEC sent a big time statement that no one can mess with them or anything body in that conference.  The Alabama Crimson Tide rolled along over the Texas Longhorns in a 37-21 victory that will definetly let people wonder what if?

You all know the what if... Colt McCoy if he doesn't go down with injury what happens?  I have no idea personally because the Alabama running game of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson pounded the ball down the vaunted Texas defense the entire first half.  Only when Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp was able to make changes in the second half did the Longhorns finally shut down the Tide's running attack.

Richardson was the only player that really made an impression on me.  He played well in a light role against Florida and now he looked like he was the starting running back.  Ingram did so good things today but Richardson was the star of the team tonight for the Crimson Tide.  To imagine that they will be back for next season is a scary thought for every team playing Alabama.  Not to mention, quarterback Greg McElroy will be back for another year (didn't have a great game but honestly, he has a chance to make an impression next year).

I believe the Tide will not win the National Championship because they lose all of their defensive studs and I have a hard time believing that they will be able to replace Renaldo McClain, Javier Arenas, and Terrence Cody.  They do have an offense that will be able to compete for the title though.  Big ups to Garrett Gilbert, McCoy's back-up who looked like Johnny Moxon out there and I thought it would have been a great Hollywood ending.

The last thing I would like to say is Nick Saban falls into the Lloyd Carr's Dbag Coaches Association. I couldn't stand Carr because he was smug and didn't seem to every enjoyed coaching.  The man is a hell of a coach but can we all admit he is a prick?  He didn't enjoy anything that was happening out there, it was like they just beat Mississippi State or someone.  C'mon Sabes, lighten up a bit maybe take a sip of Jack Daniels or something.
