The Bills have been rumored to be bringing in Mike Shananhan, Bill Cowher, Marv Levy, and a host of others, it leads them to Chan Gailey, former Dallas Cowboys coach and Georgia Tech Head Football Coach. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?
I feel bad for the Bills fan base because they are just getting tortured with horrible coaching decisions in the past decade. Dick Jauron when brought in to Buffalo already had been a bad coach with the Chicago Bears, yet got another job with the Bills. Gailey who hasn't been a head coach in the NFL in over a decade is a real puzzling decision by Owner Ralph Wilson and his associates.
I personally would have brought in Leslie Frazier from the Minnesota Vikings. The guy seems like he gets it, and is ready to be an NFL coach in the NFL. I truely believe he might be just as compentent as Brad Childress right now. If I needed a Head Coach that would be one of my first choices.
But on the other hand, Buffalo looks like a franchise that is going nowhere fast. Sure they have a great fan base comparable to the Green Bay Packers of the AFC, but they are like the Pack was before they got Favre maybe worse. The Bills haven't sniffed the playoffs in a decade plus they have no star to look forward to in the coming years. I mean Terrell Owens will retire soon, Marshawn Lynch is a head case, Ryan Fitzpatrick/Trent Edwards aren't NFL quarterbacks, and maybe Fred Jackson is your only star going forward.
If I were Buffalo, I would draft Jimmy Clausen or make moves to get Clausen. I think he is going to a good NFL quarterback and they need to start somewhere. That would be a way to build on the future and maybe the Jackson-Clausen combination leads them into the future. If not, they will be continuing their decade-long futility.
