Marc Ingram Brings the Heisman to Bama

Everyone had a theory going into Saturday night on who was going to win the Heisman.  We heard it from all angles about the five finalists.

-Some believed it should be Ndamukong Suh, defensive tackle from Nebraska because honestly, he is the best player in the nation. Not disagreeing there, Suh is going to be a bonafide stud in the NFL and if I was number one, he is my pick. Difference maker in year one compared to the others.

-Some believed it should be Toby Gerhart, the running back from Stanford because if this was like the NFL, no doubt about it Gerhart is the MVP.  The Cardinal might have won three to five games without a guy like Gerhart and not to mention, he led most of the running stats in college football.

-Some went on the Marc Ingram, running back from Alabama including myself because he played in one of the best conferences (most feel it is the best but that title belongs to the Pac-10 this year, I wrote this in November) and was the main reason why the Crimson Tide were the number one team in the nation.

-Others felt Colt McCoy, the quarterback from Texas would get the 'lifetime achievement' award that sometimes happen with the Heisman where they give it to the senior who's had a solid career throughout the entire year.

It was completely deserving for Ingram.  I thought that Gerhart or Ingram was the deserving winner for the Heisman trophy.  I cannot complain about the selection that was made.  Although, I feel that Suh is the best player we have seen this year but defensive never wins the Heisman for the sole reason they do not score touchdowns.

When it was all said and done Marc Ingram took home the Heisman in a very emotional moment with his dad in jail right now and growing up in tough part of Flint, Michigan.  I said last week that Ingram is the most impressive pure running back I have seen since Adrian Peterson and added that he could be better than AP right now.  Ingram could very well with Greg McElroy back as quarterback win another Heisman next year. It wouldn't shock me to see him to do that.

-Charlie.
