The Annual What-If BCS Playoffs

I firmly believe that I have developed an even better version than last years.  It will be a 10 team playoff consisting of two home playoffs games then feeding into the bowl atmosphere when it gets down to four then two.   I will pick the winners in what in my opinion would happen.

DEC 22, a Tuesday.  Both could be night games starting at 6 pm or so.  Most schools are done with finals by then and it would give players time to be home for the holidays.

8. Ohio State vs. 9. Georgia Tech- The Yellow Jackets face an interesting battle with them having to head to the cold parts of the country to play this one but I still think they have the advantage.  Think about if the game is in Ohio, late December the weather will be more conducive for the Yellow Jackets.  They would run the ball and the spread would look sloppy in the snow.  GT 20-10

7. Oregon vs. 10. Iowa- The Ducks and Hawkeyes would be interesting matchup because they are two different styles of team plus the road trip out to Autzen Zoo hasn't been friendly for many teams.  Jeremaih Masoli would once again step up in the spotlight and win a close game. ORE 28-23

DEC 29, a Tuesday.  The NFL just ended and now there will be a full slate of football games to watch starting at 10 am finishing up with a 7:30 affair to keep all of the viewership.

3. Cincinnati vs. 6 Boise St- This gets the nod as the most boring game of the day long games hence why they get the early spot especially for the Bronco fanbase.  The Bearcats I feel are such the better team than the Broncos.  I feel Tony Pike would have a great day and despite the Brian Kelly distractions, they win the game handily.  CINCY 38-17

1. Alabama vs. 9. Georgia Tech- A game that nobody really would be that excited for unless you lived in the Southern part of the United States.  The Yellow Jackets rely on a heavy running game that would likely be shut down by the Crimson Tide and their offense is good enough to get it done.  BAMA 24-13

2. Texas vs. 7. Oregon- Arguably the best game of the day.  I personally think that Oregon is a very good and I am not that impressed with Texas as the second best team in the nation.  I think the offense for the Ducks would create many problems and they could do enough to slow down the Texas offense. It would be high scoring but the Ducks win on the final drive. ORE 45-42

4. TCU vs. 5 Florida- The most hyped game for the fact that people would question if the Horned Frogs can compete with the top dogs in college football.  Their defense is rather strong but have they played anyone to the level of the Gators?  Not a chance, which leads to a Gator victory as they take control of the fourth quarter.  FLA 24-13

Jan 5, the Final Four of Football.  It would be a sight to see with the games being played at the Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl, with the Sugar Bowl getting their own bowl game for the ones that missed out on the BCS.

1. Alabama vs. 5. Florida- The rematch of the SEC Championship, a mere month later. The teams know each other very well and truth be told, Bama seemed to be too tough for the Gators.  I think this game would be much closer and the defense would likely have a better plan for Ingram.  Still, I think in the end Bama wins on a final drive.  BAMA 28-24

3. Cincinnati vs. 7. Oregon- This would likely be one of the most high scoring games and probably one of the most entertaining ones of the whole playoffs.  The Bearcats by this time would have some respect but only beating the Broncos doesn't give them much clout.  The Ducks have more games under their belt but I believe in Masoli leading them to victory.  ORE 52-48

Jan 12- So we extend the season by five days, only Oregon would have to play a massive amount of games but it works.  This would be the Rose Bowl, twelve days late.  I realize I am ruining tradition but I do not care.

1. Alabama vs 7. Oregon- An unlikely matchup for the National Championship but this could have the makings of a classic.  The Ducks are fast enough to keep up with the Tide but the physical part of the game comes into question.  People would wonder if Bama could keep up with the spread.   I think the Tide have enough to win and they pull away in the fourth.  BAMA 28-17
