Boring Bay Heads to Big City Again

One of the bigger free agents in Major League Baseball landed with the New York Mets who have landed one big free agent the last three years, which hasn't mattered at the end of the year right now.  Jason Bay is now the new left fielder of the Mets.  My thoughts on the deal, eh.

Jason Bay is so boring.  I do not know what is it about him but he just seems like an awkward white guy who doesn't fit in at most social events and just talks to the wall.  No one is going out and buying a Jason Bay jersey in New York because nothing he does is very sexy to the eye.   He isn't going to take New York by storm, no one will be talking about the Bay signing as much as other signings will be. This is why he didn't fit in with the Boston Red Sox and why it's possible he couldn't fit in with the Mets.  It makes sense for him to go to a small market team in my opinion. I mean he should be because he hit .280 as an overall average, has hit over 20 homers since 2004.

He isn't that scary as a player either.  When he played many years for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the only reason I ever worried about him as a Brewer fan when the Crew played them was because he was the only player to fear in that lineup.  Yes the combination of David Wright and Bay will be a tough 3-4 to go against in a lineup but at the same time, no chance in hell does it become the Manny-Big Papi of a couple years ago.

Bay was very good in the playoffs the first year he got a chance but then last year even though hitting thirty-six homers (blame that on the Green Monster) the AL pitching figured him out and had 162 strikeouts being a career-high. He cannot hit or stay on a pitch out and away whatsoever. He swings at it every time, it seems. Not to mention in big moments last year, when I think Bay wouldn't make things happen as a four hitter should at clutch situations.
