Marquette Wrap-Up at Rutgers

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." A perfect saying for the game last night for the Marquette Golden Eagles as they defeated Rutgers 81-76 in a game that shouldnt have been that close.

-Wesley Matthews continues to look like the most improved player in the country right now. He had 23 points on 10/10 shooting which most of them were driving to the lane getting a lay-up. Matthews needed to be better from the line last night as he was 3/6.

-After the game on Sunday, I thought that Marquette was going to shoot as many threes as they could on Wednesday. That didnt happened, they shot poorly in the first half but they hammered in down low. Also lay-ups were the first option.

-Mach and I were watching the game together and the greatest thing happened. Dwight Burke had 8 points, six of the first ten. You had to know it was going to be a great day. If Burke can provide 5-9 points a game, Marquette becomes very dangerous.

-Lazar Hayward had a bad game and I understand that happens although Hayward needs to look for other teammates and realize its not his night. Hayward tried to get himself going multiple times and it just didnt work.

-Granted Mike Rosario had a huge second half, I really think Dominic James is head and shoulders better on defense than last year which once again makes Marquette a bigger threat if James and Jerel McNeal are lockdown defender.

-The other big thing is Jimmy Butler had nine points last night which I have been waiting for. Butler looked aggressive with the ball last night and had a nice perimeter shot.

-Finally Fred Hill head coach of Rutgers should be only giving four timeouts instead of six. Hill made the game so much slower and more boring, it was not fun to watch.

-Charlie.
