2009: The Return of the College Quarterbacks

First, we learned that Colt McCoy would be back for his senior season which at that time made Texas a favorite in 2009, next we learned that College Football Jesus... Tim Tebow coming back for his senior year as well which takes them to the top as being the BCS Champions. Now Sam Bradford is back for his junior year. Holy shit.

2009's college football season could be one of the greatest years ever with the likes of McCoy, Tebow, and Bradford coming back school to play football. I think it shows that a lot of these kids want to win the national championship or possibly just enjoy there time living it up in college and worry about the real world later on. Its a great thing to see and I could only hope it would translate in college hoops.

I still think the clear-cut number one for next year has to Florida; not only does Tebow come back but they get all 11 starters back on defense including Brandon Spikes, inside linebacker whose one of the best in the nation. Also both of their primary running backs come back for next year, the only lost is Percy Harvin who declared today. I think you have to put Oklahoma right at two with Sam Bradford, DeMarco Murray, Jermaine Gresham, and Trent Williams all returning makes them a bonafide threat next plus another year of experience to that defense. Finally, Texas ends up being number three, they lose some on defense but having the McCoy-Jordan Shipley connection will be vital all year and hopefully they find a running back.

The guys who really benefited from McCoy and Bradford not coming out were Matthew Stafford, and Mark Sanchez, likely they both will be the first round selections and would have been down lower in the draft if the others came out. A lot of people say Sanchez isnt ready but look he had a huge Rose Bowl and the quarterback class is pretty weak, this a perfect time for him to come out.

2009 College Football should be a special one.

No, Stafford and Sanchez would not have been drafted lower if Bradford and McCoy had declared. McCoy has always been a mid-round guy. To small, thin, injury-pron, average arm and plays in spread offense. Bradford also plays in a spread offense, can't read defenses or call an audible, thin as a rail, etc.

Bradford was projected in the top 10 in most mock drafts I have witnessed so even went top 5 over Stafford so it helps him out.

How is McCoy injury prone? I mean a stinger and an helmet-helmet hit, I wouldnt stick injury prone on him.
