Chucky's Days are Done in Tampa

Before I get started today, we have a new member of the Blog Revolution, that I have created. My buddy Mike has a new blog called The Burner, this guy is awesome for anything baseball-related and pretty knowledgeable in the world of sports, give it a try.

The Chucky era is over in Tampa Bay. Jon Gruden was officially fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as General Manager Bruce Allen. So a complete cleaning house plus they already have new people for the job. The new head coach is Raheem Morris, a defensive backs coach who was just named defensive coordinator is now their coach and Mark Dominik is their new General Manager. So basically what the Buccaneers are telling their fans is these guys needed promotions and we wanted to give that too them.

I think the reason is because the Glazer family (owners of the team) feel that its time for a change and they want to make a splash in the next upcoming years. The Gruden Era had a Super Bowl win but after that, its hasnt been anything special. Havent had a playoff win since 2002 Super Bowl, and has only been to the playoffs two years. In terms of time for a change, they are an old team. Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber are in the twillight of their careers so they arent the franchise players they once were. They still have a good two years left in them. So this could mean that the franchise in general wants to go into a new direction after six years of inconsistantcy.

Now if I was the Buccaneers I would draft Matt Sanchez or Matthew Stafford (highly doubt he will be available at that point of the draft). It would be a smart decision to finally have a quarterback they can start a franchise with or go after the numerous running backs who would all be good fits in Tampa Bay. I think they can be a playoff team next year with just a couple of tweaks on the offensive side of the ball.
