The Jets have hired Rex Ryan to be their new head coach for the New York Jets. Ryan has been defensive coordinator of the Ravens for six years. His dad is Buddy Ryan, the creator of the 46 defense and someone who either loved or hated. Anyways how do you allow your kid to go by Rex when your other son in the NFL is Rob? Doesnt make any sense to me.
Ryan takes over a Jet defense that was alright last season, nothing special. They were the 18th ranked defense in the NFL. He already has his 3-4 personal set-up with the team but they need to find a new cornerback because Ty Law isnt the answer for them. Plus I would probably look for another option than David Bowens.
The other big thing about Ryan is he has no prior history with the one they called Brett Favre. We havent heard anything about Ryan-Favre but I said it before I believe he will retire. In addition, I dont think Ryan wants Favre back and would like to just start out with a clean slate. Furthermore, many had speculated that if the Jets brought in a coach who was familiar with Favre he might stay. I applaud the Jets for finding the right coach for the organization and not just a single player.
I think with a tweak at quarterback and more of a focus on one of the most underrated players in football, Thomas Jones they will be pretty successful next year.
