Big Ben in Big Trouble and ESPN Seems to Care Less

Well look what we have here. One of the biggest quarterbacks in the National Football League, Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers is getting sued by a Harrah's casino worker Andrea McNaulty for sexually assaulting her last year. This to me is a big fat rut-roh for the Steeler fans out there but it does make me wonder why criminal charges havent been filed if the victim is so sure of the crime.

Here is her story via Yahoo where they run stories like this instead of ESPN who decides that it wouldnt be good if they ran this as the lead article on ESPN.com. Thats amazing to me when you have one of the top five recognizable quarterbacks in the NFL and there is no coverage on ESPN about Big Ben. Not even on its NFL page is there an article for Big Ben and to me if this was Terrell Owens, Chad OchoCinco, or even Tony Romo I think that ESPN has multiple stories about this. Think back to when this happened to Kobe Bryant and how ESPN was all over that story for months slowly but surely ruining his image. Why hasnt the same been done to Big Ben? Is it because its only a civil suit? To me thats bullshit and this still needs to be cover.

Here is what she claims...
"The lawsuit said he grabbed her and started to kiss her. It said she was “shocked and stunned that this previously friendly man, that appeared to be a gentleman in her previous contacts with hi“

But instead of stopping, Roethlisberger began fondling plaintiff through her dress and between her legs,” the suit said. He then “held her against her will and physically moved plaintiff and pushed her onto his bed” where he raped her, the suit says.

She told him, “You don’t want to do this,” and begged him “I am not on any type of birth control.”m was suddenly preventing her from leaving, was assaulting her and battering her"

Also in the article, she is suing the hotel claiming they told her to cover this up because the owner was good friends with Big Ben and didnt want this getting out. My question is why arent there criminal charges and also why is there only 440,000 dollars being filed? Maybe she doesnt want to sound crazy when McNulty enters the court room and wants to make this look as legitimate as possible. Maybe the criminal charges will come later on if they find out that this is alot more to this story.

I do not believe the NFL will do anything about this until they decided whether the criminal charges are filed or McNaulty wins the suit. If she does then Big Ben has to be suspended for awhile or commissioner Roger Goodell will be dealing with all the womens groups about why he isnt suspended. It will be interesting to follow this story.

All I ask for is that the wrath of ESPN comes down on Big Ben because it would be a double standard if nothing comes of this. Even if this proves to be completely false, it still went through the courts and is being talked about by every major radio show. You gotta do it ESPN.
