Brewers Weekly: Just Keep Turnin' Up the Heat

I really cannot say much about the Milwaukee Brewers because if you are watching them play night in night out they are pounding the ball on offense and the pitching staff has been top of the line by leading the leagues in quality starts. My dad and I have begun watching Baseball Tonight to see if the Brewers are getting any respect which hasnt been a topic. One thing I do know is the Crew deserves that respect playing in arguably the toughest division in baseball. Here was the thoughts from last week

Tuesday: The Brewers faced John Koronka who they hadnt seen before which is always a concern if you know the Brewers history with guys like that. But he was no match as Prince Fielder hit two blasts, Rickie Weeks hit one as well as Mike Cameron. Also Manny Parra delivered a solid start and it seems that Parra finally has his head on straight.

Wednesday: The Crew had their backs to the wall for awhile in this game as Braden Looper struggled in the beginning putting the Brewers in a 3-0 hole to begin the game. The Brewers kept clawing back with runs in every inning and in the fourth, they came up big with five runs to break this game wide open. Although Macha in my opinion left Looper in too long which made this a game again but the Brewers bullpen shut it down for the win.

Thursday: The Brewers knew they would be in for a tough battle with Josh Johnson on the hill, one of the best young guns today. Bill Hall hit a big blast in the second to break open the scoring and they got help from Mike Cameron as well. Dave Bush once again was consistent with a good start paving the way for Trevor Hoffman to get the save.

Friday: Rain out

Saturday: Only two hits were allowed by Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright but one of those was a big homer from Corey Hart which was enough run support for Jeff Suppan who turned in his best performance of the year so far. The Crew also got great defense from JJ Hardy in the 7th to save a run.

Sunday: Walks were the big thing of the day with Todd Wellenmeyer putting 7 Brewers on base leading to four runs in the first with RBI singles from Hardy and Jason Kendall. Once again, I feel Macha left Parra in a bit long leading to the Cards two runs but shortly there after Prince hit a three run bomb to put this one away.

5-0 last week, couldnt be happier.

-Charlie.
