SVG Blowin' It For the Magic

I said this before the NBA Finals got going on Thursday night.... "Game 1 is huge in so many ways due to the fact that if the Magic get blown out in game 1 I feel Van Gundy may self-destruct." I would like to stand by that claim because our boy Stan Van Gundy decided to play J.J. Redick who didnt play in five of the six games in the Eastern Conference twenty-seven minutes and Courtney Lee arguably one of the best rookies this year plus a true difference maker only twelve... yeah that makes sense Stan.

I think you could say that SVG has self-destructed and it might lead to a sweep by the Lakers although I feel the Magic will only win one in Orlando and we will not be heading back to Los Angeles for a variety of reasons....

My first major reason was SVG because he has mentally lost it against Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant. I think he feels overwhelmed with all thats going on in the last twenty-four hours and I believe he realizes how much shit he is taking. SVG biggest mistake of the whole postseason has been giving Jameer Nelson as much playing time as he has already had. Nelson looks alright out there but the chemistry that we all witnessed in the past two series was thanks to combination of Rafer Alston and Anthony Johnson. In addition, Alston you can clearly see isnt the same player and this has screwed him up mentally. This ultimately is the biggest reason right now the Lakers are up 2-0 on the Magic.

Say what you will about how much the media is hyping this story line but another huge reason is Kobe Bryant's killer instinct. I am willing to put Bryant in the "Tiger-Federer-A-Rod-Favre" category where people feed off what that certain athlete is doing. When Favre had that look in his eye as a Green Bay Packer; it seemed like no one could stop the Packer offense on that given Sunday. Kobe has that same look of determination almost like there is no way the Lakers are losing a single game of the series.

Game 3 becomes ever more critical and the Magic need an emphatic win to build confidence. If the Magic snake on out at home, it gives them absolutely no momentum. But if they beat them by seven or more, it gives them some confidence which they havent had in this whole NBA Finals. Also it wouldnt hurt if Dwight Howard decided to show up in this Finals for once and starts to act like a complete man. Orlando needs that too for confidence.

Don't blame it on stan van gundy for playing JJ. JJ has been playing good. If anything, blame it on Patrick Ewing. His sole purpose is to coach Dwight Howard, yet Dwight has not a single post move to his name. (With the exception of catching the ball under the basket and dunking it)

Danny.. Great point. I think that is an underlying theme that not many people are talking about. I think some are saying, "Well it will come with time" But if you look at guys like Tim Duncan and Shaq somewhat they were ready almost instantly. Once again, awesome point-Chuck.
