RJ Era Short-Lived in Milwaukee

As you can see it was a busy Tuesday in the NBA and I am sure there is still more to come. The final deal involved your very own Milwaukee Bucks and the San Antonio Spurs. The Bucks sent Richard Jefferson to San Antonio for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas, and Fabrico Oberto who was then dealt to the Detroit Pistons for Amir Johnson. This is a clear salary cap thrashing and I actually really like this deal for a variety of reasons.

First one is Richard Jefferson is not the same RJ that was a key part of the New Jersey Nets run to the NBA Finals where he would shoot the three and throw down ridiculous dunks. He became just a jump shooter for the Bucks last year and didn’t really do anything else for Milwaukee. He will help the Spurs though because they have enough tools around RJ where he can just hang out on the three-point line.

The next one is this free up a ton of money especially if the Bucks decide to let Thomas and Bowen walk. This could assist the Bucks in resigning Ramon Sessions and Charlie Villanueva although I think Sessions should be first priority. I like the work ethic of Sessions and I think if he leaves Milwaukee, he will be a steal of the off-season for whatever team picks him up. CV doesn’t know that work ethic means, he seems like he could care less out there sometimes and only is physical in the post when he wants to be. I think it all depends on who the Bucks take at number 10. My friend Owen and I were talking about this yesterday where we came to the conclusion that Jordan Hill from Arizona would be great for the Bucks giving them a strong 1-2 young inside punch with Andrew Bogut. Although Johnny Flynn, point guard from Syracuse would be another strong player for the Bucks but then they might let Sessions walk.

Bill Simmons via Twitter felt that the Bucks really are giving the big middle finger to their fans with this deal and I disagree. I think it sucks that we picked Yi Jianlian a couple years ago and got three expiring contracts out of it. BUT here is the difference: Larry Harris to John Hammond. The new general manager has made these deals to basically clean up the mess that Harris left him and was masterful in drafting Luc Richard Mbah Moute last year as well. I still don’t believe the Mo Williams deal was that bad either because Williams wouldn’t of had the season he did without LeBron James. Rumor has it Hammond isn’t done and is shopping Luke Rindour so it will be interesting to see what the Milwaukee Bucks do.
