NCAA Coaching Updates

There is one big one and ESPN is being told a decision will be made this afternoon on whether John Calipari takes the Kentucky basketball job although there have been a couple others that I would like to give my opinion on.

Anthony Grant to Alabama- Anthony Grant head coach of Virgina Commonwealth took the Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coaching job which seems to be the step up that Grant wanted to take after leading VCU to consecutive NCAA appearances including last year's big win against Duke. It seems like Grant is a likable guy who can recruit getting guys like Eric Maynor and Larry Sanders to VCU and in addition knows the SEC being an assistant to Billy Donovan making it likely that he will be successful.

Tony Bennett to Virgina- This one was very surprising for me because this was a step up for Bennett to go from Washington State to Virgina but will his system work in the ACC? My answer is maybe. He needs to recruit athletic players to keep up with the likes of Duke, North Carolina, and Wake Forest etc. In addition, Virgina is a nice place to recruit with the DC area not to far away plus the Carolinas. He will need to tweak his offense style a bit but I think its a good fit for him. Also dont be surprised if he bolts if a Big Ten job opens up in a couple years.

Mike Anderson to Georgia?- I have no idea that the Bulldogs or the SEC for that matter was a "step up" from the Big 12. I would like to think that its not personally and I wouldnt be surprised if he does take it though. Why you ask? Well first off $$$$$, the SEC does have alot of that for its athletics, especially Georgia and second off, strong ties to the conference could bring him back. He also tied to the Memphis job if Calipari leaves but why downgrade to C-USA?
