LET THE MADNESS BEGIN

Hey everybody, this is Joe Mach and I am guest writing for Chuck this week while he is in the Dominican Republic drinking and hitting on chicks at the bar. Now that the dust has settled, and the selection committee is done picking all the teams that are in the tournament and their seeds, its time to talk about it.

The Bubble Teams- I think that the selection committee did a great job in sifting through which teams would actually be competitive in the tournament. But there was one that bothered me quite a bit, and that was the fact that Arizona got in over St. Marys. Lets look at some stats...

Arizona- 19-13 overall 9-9 in the Pac-10, RPI of 58 and SOS of 34.

St. Marys- 26-6 overall 10-4 in the West Coast Conference, RPI of 47, but a SOS rank of 149

The one thing that absolutely killed the Gaels was the fact that Patty Mills got hurt. If he doesn't get hurt, I think the Gaels have a good chance of running the WCC table. They were ranked for a while because they had an insane winning streak. Arizona has been playing mediocre basketball for most of the season. It is just a shame the selection committee take into effect that Patty Mills got hurt.. They are a three-heavy team that will be absolutely dominated by Utah in the first round.
