I hate having to write this but I feel its my duty to write the good/bad things that happened during the Marquette basketball season. Last night was a bad one as Marquette falls to South Florida 57-56.
Marquette will not be anyone when you shoot 4/23 from three and they had similar numbers against DePaul too. So they need to address the fact that they just need to take it to the hoop instead of shooting threes.
The other big issue from last night's game was the fact Marquette went 9/21 from the free throw line. That cannot happen in any game; they could be playing the sisters of the poor and they will still keep it close because of that line. Dominic James looked like Shaq out there when he shoots free throws so for another couple of guys to go cold too is detrimental.
It was a heart breaker to say the least with missing two no-footers in the last ten seconds but the fact of the matter that Maurice Acker took the shot before that pisses me off. He came in for Jerel McNeal who fouled out so he was cold. What the hell are you doing shooting the ball?
Another person I do not want to shoot the ball for awhile is Dominic James. He looked like the 2006 and 2007 James and not the leader he has been this year. He needs to get his shit together and be a player again.
Marquette set up for a showdown with Nova on Tuesday and the Wildcats are a hot team right now winning five streak. They will come to play and get one back.
-Charlie.
