Kobe and the Lakers Take Care of Business

The Lakers completed a sweep of the Celtics by winning 110-109 in overtime ending their twelve game winning streak and in December, the Lakers ended the Celtic 18 game winning streak as well.

Kobe Bryant had the type of game he needed in a big game; 26 pts. 10 reb. 5 asst. He didnt do too much just enough really. In addition, I havent watched a lot of Laker games this year although I think Paul Pierce did as good of a job on defense. But as it is with a lot of the greats they find a way to get their points. Kobe also just had some many clutch plays at the end of the fourth and in the overtime.

The Lakers also benefited from the play of Pau Gasol who had 24 points 14 rebounds and was big in the overtime as he found holes to get the ball for easy buckets. Gasol in my opinion is a top 10 player this year if not in the top 5, he is doing everything inside for the Lakers and now with Andrew Bynum's injury, more attention goes to Kobe and opens it up for Gasol to get the ball more.

The reason why the Celts lost last night? Glen 'Big Baby' Davis. He was playing for Kevin Garnett who has been bothered with sickness and I couldnt blame him if he was sicker after watching Davis performance last night in the overtime. Every time he touched the ball, he would try to shoot these mid-range jumpers instead of looking inside or trying to take the ball into the paint. Davis is probably the last player on the Celtic team that I would want shooting the ball in overtime even Dr. Eddie House would have been a better decision.

Now on Sunday, we have Kobe versus LBJ in Cleveland where the Cavs havent lost. The Lakers will be hungry for that one and I have hard time thinking that Cleveland will be able to stop Pau Gasol.
