Too Much Paid for a Dumpster

Ryan Dempster is now making 13 million a year..... lets that sink in for a minute.

The guy who was a closer no more than two years who if he was still in that role would have probably made 3-5 million a year at most but he has one good year in his contract year, the Cubs decide that he is worth the same amount of money as Ted Lilly got last year (Both dont deserve it) and gives us the first "major" signing of MLB Free Agency.

I think that Dempster might be better than Lilly but lets take into consideration that Lilly is younger plus he is a lefty too. I had assumed that Dempster would land in Kansas City, Washington, or Baltimore basically some team who throws money at people for no reason. I have thought that the Cubs despite my hatred were usually pretty good with their money and this proves me wrong completely. He had only one other year like this and that was in Florida awhile back so its unproven that he will string two good years together.

Also I think this proves that the Cubs couldnt put together a deal for Jake Peavy so they settled for Dempster and believe that the combination of Dempster-Carlos Zambrano-Rich Harden will be a force in the National League. I think its about as shaky as Mark Cuban's financial advisor because Zambrano is the only one that you can count on even though he has gotten hurt as of late.
