Please make overtime a college football style, thanks Chuck.
If you read Pat's Proclamations, he just had an article about how overtime in the NFL is awful and isnt the way to go. As you saw yesterday, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cincinnati Bengals resulted in a 13-13 tie which is the first since 2002 but still there is need for a change. I asked him last night "Quite the foreshadow on OT" and he goes "No shit, you agree?"
Why I yes I do, I think the way college football does overtime is the right way to do it because you dont deal with stamina issues if the NFL would keep doing 15:00 OTs until someone won the game because I think thats just ridiculous. I mean even if they wanted to keep the sudden death format then after 15:00 goes to the College Football style and start every possession at the twenty-five then go to two-point conversion at the end of the third overtime to decide a winner. One tweak i might have is to push back the start to the 40 because then most teams would need seven-ten yards to get into Field Goal range.
Look at this way, the NHL was the last pro sports industry in America with ties, then they decided to go to a shoot-out format which made the game much more entertaining. How about you try the same Mr. Goodell.
-Charlie.
