B.J. Raji in Camp, Rejoice.

The only big Packer Drama of the pre-season has finally come to an end with the Packers signing their first round pick defensive tackle B.J. Raji. I am pumped to see what the big fella can do in the next couple of years and I really hope that this means the end for Justin Harrell.

One of the Journal's Packer insider Greg Bedard said today on 1250 WSSP that having Raji holding out really isnt that big of a deal because it doesnt take that long for a defensive tackle to learn the 3-4. It was more important to have Clay Matthews in camp then it was to have Raji. The one thing that I would worry about him not being in the camp is the fact of the matter he is a big dude. Like Gilbert Brown big, therefore you have to make sure that Raji is conditioned and ready for the second preseason game.

The other thing I like is the fact that Raji deal is very incentive based. If he doesnt show up, then he is making all the money that he normally would get. That is a perfect type of contract for a young defensive tackle who has to worry about weight more so than any other position. If that doesnt motive the young guy, I really dont know what will.

I think that this does spell the end for Harrell. He keeps having problems with his back and really cannot put the wheels in motion like a first round draft pick should be. Harrell has been nothing better than fifth round pick and if he was a mid-round pick like he should have been, his ass would be looking for a job in the NFL. I think Harrell will be on the team until about October or if his back leads him to the Injury Reserve.
