Weekly College BBall Picks

Before we get started, Marquette is adding another player to their roster on Wednesday because somehow someway Junior Cadougan, a freshman who tore his Achilles tendon in practice earlier on this year is going to suit up against DePaul.  My editor plus my MU buddy Mach tells me he will only play if it's a blowout but still a nice addition.

Monday
5. Syracuse at Notre Dame- A tough back-to-back road games for the Orange in three days and they just barely survived against the Mountaineers.  The Fightin' Irish are rather unproven and hasn't beat a big team yet this year.  I wonder how Shrek will do facing that 2-3 zone because he isn't allowed to post up as much and I think the Orange will be too athletic.  CUSE 75-65

1. Texas at 9. Kansas State- Big Top 10 battle with one team we expected but not the Wildcats, I am more surprised with the job that Frank Martin has done and I think in Manhattan they have a chance to beat Texas who had to hold on against the Aggies at home.  I think they have enough to pull off the upset, very close game.  KSU 82-80

Tuesday
15. Purdue at Illinois- The Boilermakers are in a free-fall right now losing three straight and now they face an Illini team who coming off the heels of  a defeat at Michigan State.  I think this is a must-win for Purdue and their experience will propel them in a victory here.  PURDUE 64-52

16. Clemson at 18. Georgia Tech- Big ACC matchup with a Yellow Jacket team who really impressed me by beating the Tar Heels on the road. They are a very young team who if they can play that way on the road become very dangerous.  Clemson never plays well away from Littlejohn Stadium, I like the Jackets favorably in this one.  GT 85-72

Wednesday
Baylor at 3. Kansas- The Jayhawks didn't have any trouble against Texas Tech last week and Baylor is a talented team that can keep up with Kansas' speed.  But I think we are starting to learn about the Jayhawks is they have many guys who can score, they win.  KU 89-73

14. Georgetown at 11. Pittsburgh- Other than Kansas State, Pittsburgh has been the most impressive team to date because they lost everything and people thought they would be a middle of the road Big East team now they are in the Top 15.  Georgetown is good but I think they will not handle the pressure of the Oakland Zoo very well, very tough game.  PITT 67-62

Wake Forest at 23. North Carolina- I knew that Carolina was young but I didn't think it would translate into them looking like they are half-asleep in the first half of ACC ball games.  Wake lost to Duke on Sunday and they have caused Carolina fits although the Heels should win. UNC 79-71

College Basketball Picks: Where I Go All in on Kimmel

My take on the whole late-night stuff since that's the popular thing to do these days, I think Jimmy Kimmel has completely owned the whole situation by not only dressing like Jay Leno but also dissing him to his face. In addition, I do love Conan O'Brian "I don't give a fuck" attitude about him. Anyways, here we goo...

1. Texas-vs. Texas A&M- Big time rivalry that features an Aggie team who might have got their good record by playing a pretty light schedule after they were outclassed by Kansas State on Tuesday, I think the Longhorns are a really deep team that can put up points better than most.   TEXAS 84-68

2. Kentucky-at Auburn- The Wildcats looked very good on the road this week and that's a key thing for this young team to handle the pressure of road games in the SEC, which isn't the best conference but still, conference road games are tough.  Auburn put up a good fight against Tennessee but I think the Wildcats are on a whole another level.  UK 78-64

3. Kansas-vs. Texas Tech- The Red Raiders have got off to a rough start in the Big 12 and the Jayhawks battled the Cornhuskers on Wednesday in a close game. I think Texas Tech can play offense but I really feel like they cannot play defense for the life of Pat Knight, Jayhawks roll.  KU 94-76

5. Syracuse-at 9. West Virginia- The Orange have been great so far and I think Wesley Johnson has been a top five player and if Andy Rautins is on fire, there is no hope for the teams they are playing.  Bob Huggins still needs to find an answer for having a team thats too big. I think this game goes down to the wire and I think Rautins hits a huge shot. CUSE 74-73

6. Purdue-at Northwestern- The Boilermakers have hit some hard times losing two straight plus Robbie Hummel status I believe is in doubt for this Saturday against a tough Wildcat team on the road. Despite how tough the Wildcats play at home, I think Purdue is too much for them.  PURDUE 57-51

8. Michigan State-vs. Illinois- The Spartans and Fightin' Illini are the only unbeatens in the Big Ten right now but Illinois hasn't seen a healthy Buckeye team, the Badgers, and the Boilermakers. I think Michigan State is getting stronger as the year is going on and I think they expose the Illini on Saturday.  MSU 67-59

10. Tennessee-vs. 23. Ole Miss- I think if Bruce Pearl keeps his team in the top 15, he deserves Coach of the Year. I am amazed with what they are doing with the number of guys they have. The Rebels have been a surprise so far but Rocky Top is tough for any team.  TENN 79-71

12. Kansas State-at Colorado- Maybe the Wildcats are for real. They played really well against the Aggies and now face a Buffalo team whose okay although I think they have no chance against the Wildcats. KSU 76-64

13. North Carolina-vs. 18. Georgia Tech- I was stunned on how bad the Tar Heels played against Clemson because they looked horrible, and it appears they are losing Tyler Zeller for some time.  The Yellow Jackets are also a young team with Derrick Favors leading the group and they beat Duke at home. I think the Tar Heels win this only because its at home, very close.  UNC 85-83

14. Gonzaga-at San Diego- The Zags were able to get past St. Marys and win that game now they have the Torros who are under .500, so I really do not see any hope for that.  ZAGS 79-56

16. Wisconsin-at Ohio State- The Badgers looked good without Jon Leuer on Wednesday night but they will need Jason Bohannon to have another good performance plus a full good game from Trevon Hughes. Evan Turner is back for the Buckeyes who are a completely different team than the one the Badgers blew out. I think the Villain will take care of business in this one.  OSU 69-63

17. BYU-vs. Colorado State- BYU wins this one, I don't know much about the Mountain West but the Cougars will win.  BYU 72-59

19. Clemson-at NC State- I honestly seen this working out for the Wolfpack because the Tigers are going to riding high beating the Tar Heels at home but going on the road will not treat Oliver Purnell nicely on Saturday, the upset pick of the week. NCSU 78-74

LAST FOUR PICKS: Temple over UMass, Butler over Youngstown, Oklahoma State over Baylor, and Virginia Tech over Florida State.

Weekly NCAA Picks

The conference is really underway and there are some key games this week. I did not watch much of Kansas-Tennessee, but kudos to Bruce Pearl.  He coached his team very good and people stepped up in absence of all their players.  Kansas will bounce back, and I am sure they are glad it's a non-conference game.

Monday
4. Villanova at. Louisville- Once again, Marquette broke my heart by coming all the way back only to turn the ball over on the final play.  The thing with the Wildcats is if they shoot their threes, they are likely to run the other team out of the gym simple as that. I haven't heard much from Louisville but this is a tough place to play, with Nova not having much time to prepare. UL 75-69

Tuesday
2. Kentucky at Florida- The Wildcats once again escaped against a less opponent, but as a young team, they found a way to win.  John Wall continues to impress me but the question is can he got down to Gainesville and lead his team to victory. I personally think this also could be an upset even though they lost to Vanderbilt on the road. I think it will come down to the wire again, and Wall ends up pulling it out for the Gators. UK 74-72

Ohio State at 6. Purdue- I think the Boilermakers struggles at the free-throw line on Saturday against the Wisconsin Badgers might be a tell-tale sign for the next couple of months. They are one of the toughest teams at home and I do not believe Evan Turner is back from injury, the Buckeyes are entirely different team without him. PUR 68-53

Texas A&M at 12. Kansas State- Once again, the Big 12 flexed their muscles with the Wildcats losing in Missouri and now has to face a good Aggie team. Donald Sloan is a hell of a player that the Cats need to stop if they want to pull away in this one. I like Jacob Pullen and the other parts of K-State.  KSU 76-71

Wednesday
1. Texas at Iowa State- I think whenever you are number one in the nation people are out gunning for you and the Longhorns are going to have a big target especially on the road.  The Cyclones didn't play well against the Dukies last week but I think this will be a close ball game with the Horns pulling it out. UT 67-65

13. North Carolina at 19. Clemson- The Tar Heels looked impressive against the Hokies last night and they go to Clemson where it is always a tough place to play.  Trevor Booker I think will get contained by all the size the Tar Heels have and that will propel them to victory.  UNC 79-71

20. Pittsburgh at 15. UConn- It's time to see whether the Panthers who are the surprising them in the NCAA this season are the real deal. UConn seems to have the same make-up as they usually do, they have really good players-Kemba Walker, Stanley Robinson but they have huge mental lapses multiple times. I don't see the Huskies losing at home.  UCONN 75-65

16. Wisconsin at Northwestern- The Badgers lost Jon Leuer for awhile and I felt like he was the reason why the Badgers were a better team than their ranking might show. Like I said last week, their bench is a big reason why they are a great team BUT Evanston is a house of horrors for the Badgers plus without Leuer I think we see the offense struggle.  NW 54-49

Week 12 Picks: Finally Back, Thanks Turkey Break

Here we go it's a short week for us here at Chucks Corner but I will give you my picks for the weekend. The Packers impressed me against the Lions and I think right now Charles Woodson deserves Defensive Player of the Year more so than Jared Allen.  Woodson does so much more on the field then Allen in my opinion.

Tampa Bay (1-9) at Atlanta (5-5)- The Falcons need this win badly or they will be faced two games back for the playoff hunt.  Matt Ryan and Matt Forte are competing for "Biggest Sophomore Slump Award" but they should be fine against Tampa. ATL 24-14

Miami (5-5) at Buffalo (3-7)- I am curious to see if we will get a second-dose of Ricky Williams being the MVP-like running back in his heyday before the weed (I am not saying he was ever an MVP candidate but you get the point). TO came out of the casket to get 196 yards and couple TDs in a defeat.  Bills play the Dolphins super tough at home and it will continue this week. BUF 17-14

Cleveland (1-9) at Cincinnati (7-3)- The Bengals fell into the Black Hole and then get blessed with playing the Browns who showed some fight last week although it was against the Lions.  Cincy should have no problem getting by the Browns this week. CINCY 31-17

Seattle (3-7) at St. Louis (1-9)- Such an awful game, I wouldn't pay five dollars to watch this horrendous game. Kyle Boller gets the start and he will probably suck like usual. SEA 27-10

Carolina (4-6) at NY Jets (4-6)- This is a do-or-die game for either team. Both teams still could be in the playoff hunt if they win but if they do lose, they probably can look towards next year's draft. I think the Sanchise-Rex Ryan thing will look worse after this week losing at home to a warm weather team. CAR 20-14

Washington (3-7) at Philadelphia (6-4)- I will be cheering for the Redskins so the Pack can maintain that five seed but I have no faith in Washington getting it done. They also are 0-5 on the road, which doesn't bode well and I do not believe Clinton Portis will play.  PHI 35-9

Indianapolis (10-0) at Houston (5-5)- Another must-win for the Texas and Gary Kubiak. The Colts dominated them so far and Peyton Manning has a sore ass, which probably will not hurt the team. Schaub should have a day with their banged-up secondary, I think they pull it out. HOU 28-21

Kansas City (3-7) at San Diego (7-3)- Spirits are high in both places due to the winning ways.  The Chiefs may have caught the Chargers on a good week after their huge win against Denver. This will be a close battle but LDT and Sporles will close out the game for the Chargers. SD 31-24

Jacksonville (6-4) at San Francisco (4-6)- The 49ers need this win badly to keep playoff hopes alive and the Jaguars have a playoff team that no one gives a shit about.  The Jaguars running attack will be too much for the Niners in this one.  JAX 23-13

Arizona (7-3) at Tennessee (4-6)- Can the Titans do it again?  Vince Young has looked like a man in the past four weeks and Chris Johnson can do anything he wants after he dominates for my fantasy team. The Cards are banged up and this will be a classic Cardinals WTF game.  TENN 27-14

Chicago (4-6) at Minnesota (9-1)- Oh no Jay Culter. If you haven't been flustered enough, wait until you play Minnesota defense.  Although Lovie Smith drew up awesome game plans for Brett Favre before so who knows. I think this will be close and a great NFC North battle. MINN 17-14

Pittsburgh (6-4) at Baltimore (5-5)- No Big Ben means the Dennis Dixon era begins, a guy I liked at Oregon but I have no idea how his play will translate to the pros. The Ravens likely get it done at home with just enough offense and good defense.  BALT 24-7

New England (7-3) at New Orleans (10-0)- Big time showdown on Monday Night. The Saints have been getting by barely in the last couple of weeks and the Pats looked good on D when they played Sanchez, not so much against Peyton Manning. The Saints will be exposed this week and the Pats win big. NE 38-24

NCAA Picks: Putting You on the Hotseat.

Just a programming note.  I will be doing picks on Thursday for the NFL and NCAA, maybe even as earlier as Wednesday.  If I am somehow do not get to it, I will give my thoughts on the Thursday night game.  Makes my life harder but sweeter for you.  If you are curious about the NFL Midseason Report you can read it here

1. Florida-at South Carolina- Despite winning the SEC East, some people believe the Gators could be in big trouble heading to Columbia.  While I think their defense is tough, the Gamecocks have no answer for the Gator defense.  This should be over by tthe second half.  UF 20-9

2. Alabama-at Mississippi State- Last weekend at Ripon, I met a guy from Alabama and holy shit, do they love their college football.  He explained how during the Tennessee-Bama game that he told his wife, "If they lose, I don't want to see you or fucking talk to you."  Well then. The Bulldogs will hang in there for awhile then the Tide becomes too tough.  BAMA 20-10

3. Texas-at Baylor- Is this a rivalry?  I have no clue but the Longhorns should roll in this game.  The Big 12 is really weak this year and no one is really saying much about it.  TEXAS 42-10

4. TCU-vs. 16. Utah- The Horned Frogs are definitely a legit team in college football right now and I wonder why Gary Patterson's name hasn't been brought up as "the next head coach of this team..."  His defense will be too much for a freshman quarterback of the Utes.  TCU 31-13

5. Cincinnati-vs. 25. West Virigina- A big time Friday night matchup.  People will be watching this to see if the Bearcats are for real and if the looming Brian Kelly distractions bother the team.  Noel Devine needs to have a big day and it will be interesting to see what Tony Pike does when he gets in the game.  This one will be high scoring and close, I will take the home team.  CINCY 45-41  (Edit: Cincy wins by a FG, they took care of business and they set up a huge showdown with Pitt in a couple of weeks)

6. Boise State-vs. Idaho- The Spud Bowl battle.  The Vandals have had the best year in a long time and the Broncos continue to show promise every week in the weak WAC. Honestly, I think this game will be close but the Broncos are too good.  BOISE 35-28

7. Georgia Tech-at Duke- The kings of the ACC so far head to Cameron where there should be Cameron Crazies for a football game. I will be watching to see if the Blue Devils are for real.  I think they will be a bit too excited and the Paul Johnson offense will get it done.  GT 28-17

8. LSU-vs. Louisiana Tech- The Tigers continue their non-conference tour of Louisiana.  The Tigers are without Jared Jefferson this week but the Bulldogs are nothing to fear.  LSU 31-7

9. USC-vs. Stanford- The Cardinal and their goofy tree are the talk of the town after knocking off the Ducks. The question is can they do it again this week against the Trojans.  I vote no, USC is at home and Stanford doesn't play well on the road. Also the SC defense will handle Toby Gerhardt.  USC 24-14

10. Iowa-at 11. Ohio State- Well I head to Iowa next week for the game against the Gophers and they are playing the Buckeyes this week on the road. The defense for Iowa needs to be huge in this one for them to win. For my guy JS I will take the Hawkeyes but it will have to be low-scoring.  IOWA 13-10

11. Ohio State-SEE 10. Iowa

12. Pittsburgh-vs. Notre Dame- I think this could be called "Charlie Weis' Job Bowl" if he loses this one, I think it's a done deal that he is fired.  If they can find a way to stop Dion Lewis then Weis lives for another day. The Golden Domers' defense is pretty poor though, expect a shoot out ending with a Panther win. PITT 38-34

13. Oregon-vs. Arizona State- A late night game for all of us that need college football the whole day. The Ducks and Mitch Pratt try to recover after last week's defeat.  The Sun Devils bring a freshman quarterback into the Autzen Zoo, that will not end well.  ORE 45-21

14. Miami-at North Carolina- The U knows that every game in the ACC is a must-win and knows it needs some help to get into the ACC Championship game.  The Tar Heels have been rather sporadic all year and still do not like them even in a home setting. MIAMI 23-17

15. Houston-at UCF- People have been trying to rallying around Chase Keenum for Heisman, but I personally see it as Colt Brennen a couple years ago.  I actually think the Golden Knights will pull off a mild upset in this one.  UCF 23-21

16. Utah-SEE 4. TCU

17. Arizona-at California- It's time to prove if the Wildcats are the real deal in the next four weeks. The Bears are without Jahvid Best who had that horrific concussion last weekend.  That will propel Arizona to victory. ZONA 35-21

18. Penn State-vs. Indiana- Completely stunned to see the Nittany Lions get slaughtered by the Buckeyes. I was watching our friend Doz at Ripon so I didn't watch the game to tell you the reasons why. I think Joe Pa's boys will be fine against the Hoosiers.  PSU 34-14

19. Oklahoma State-vs Texas Tech- What a boring game. Granted, it will be high scoring but the Big 12 has fallen off big time since last year where every game seemed to be the most exciting game we were about to witnessed. The Cowboys will roll.  OSU 42-24

20. Wisconsin-vs. Michigan- The Badgers have been haunted by Big Blue in the past ten years with weird losses (i.e. last year or the Bret Bell fumble on the punt) I think the Wisconsin defense is tougher than people think and should frustrated Tate Forcier.  UW 24-10

21. Virgnia Tech-at Maryland- The Hokies have really fallen off the past couple of weeks but the good news is they are playing Maryland who is worst than Lady Gaga's wardrobe.  VT 38-13

22. BYU-at New Mexico- The Fightin' Chets head to Lobo country where they have the college version of Tom Cable. Won't help them win though. BYU 52-17

23. Oregon State-vs. Washington- The Beavers are new members to the BCS and they play a Washington team who hasn't done anything after the big win against USC.  Jacquizz Rodgers will do major work in this one.  OSU 42-14

24. South Florida-at Rutgers- Eh, really not an exciting Thursday night game.  The Bulls have had a roller coaster ride throughout the Big East season and the Scarlet Knights haven't found a quarterback that compares to Mike Teel.  I will go with the Bulls.  USF 31-20 (Edit: I was wrong big time.  Rutgers blew them out big time in a 31-0 victory.)

25. West Virgnia-SEE 5. Cincinnati

NFL Picks Week 9: Here's to Destroying My Liver

I will be away for the weekend at Ripon visiting friends Doz and JPar. If I remember enough I will create a running diary of what happened during the whole wekeend.  So the NFL picks are early this week enjoy.

Washington (2-5) at Atlanta (4-3)- The Falcons have now lost two straight and I really think they could have beat New Orleans last week had it not been for turnovers. The Redskins have had two weeks but they have more drama than The Ruins on a weekly basis.  ATL 28-16

Arizona (4-3) at Chicago (4-3)- A big time game this weekend and in a lot of games, we will figure whose in good position for the Wild Card.  The Cards struggled last week but they did play well in the cold two weeks ago.  The Bears offensive line has been woeful and I think Warner-Fitzgerald tears it up. ARI 34-24

Baltimore (4-3) at Cincinnati (5-2)- The Ravens looked like they could got their defense swagger back last weekend against Denver and the Nati has had two weeks to prepare for the chance of a sweep.  Chad Ocho Cinco sent the Ravens deodrant... the man is a genius.  I will take the home team close.  CINCY 17-16

Miami (3-4) at New England (5-2)- The Dolphins got very lucky this week thanks to Ted Ginn Jr. housing two touchdowns on kickoff returns.  The Patriots are looking for revenge after getting destroyed last year by the Phins.  Add to the fact, they have had two weeks.  NE 35-20

Green Bay (4-3) at Tampa Bay (0-7)- I hate, hate, hate, hate playing the last team who hasn't won a game.  It just worries me and I think it will be closer than it really should be until about the fourth quarter.  The Pack hasn't been all that successful in Tampa.  GB 30-17

Kansas City (1-7) at Jacksonville (3-4)- This is an absolute snoozefest and the Chiefs have got a lot of press this week for Larry Johnson.  The Jags suffered a tough loss by the Tennessee Titans. I doubt that this will happen again but there will certainly be a blackout by the Jags fans.  JAX 31-21

Carolina (3-4) at New Orleans (7-0)- Oh this is a laughable game. I dont care that the Carolina offense looked awesome last week because the Saints secondary is the best part of their defense.  Not good at all Jake Delhomme.  NO 38-14

Detroit (1-6) at Seattle (2-5)- Yikes another snoozer and the Lions have to be back in the dumps after losing to the Rams last week at home.  The Seahawks seem to not be able to stop anybody but I like the home team to take care of business in this one.  SEA 31-17

Tennessee (1-6) at San Francisco (3-4)- The Niners have been running into a bad streak of luck and they need this win more than Rex Ryan needs a cheeseburger.  The Titans main goal is to run the ball which the Niners are very good at stopping, not good.  SF 24-13

San Diego (4-3) at NY Giants (5-3)- Huge Huge Huge game.  The Chargers need this win.  The Giants need this win.  This should be a classic but like I have been noticing lately is the Giants cannot stop the pass. Despite the weather, I think Rivers will lead them to victory.  SD 34-28

Dallas (5-2) at Philadelphia (5-2)- I have no idea who will win this game. The Cowboys seem to be for real but Tony Romo always seems to choke when it matters. The Eagles finally have WR's but the Eagles never seem consistent in the last couple of years.  David Akers kicks a field goal late.  PHI 20-17

Pittsburgh (5-2) at Denver (6-1)- Big time Monday Night Football matchup where the Steelers will know if they need a win to keep pace with the Bengals. I think people are still not believing in the Broncos. I like the homefield advantage, I think the crowd will be jacked and Big Ben will have problems moving around.  DEN 16-10

NCAA Picks Week 10: Time to Realize

Not a real creative title.  I apologize but honestly, I think it is time for me to realize in my picks that upsets really aren't happening this year.  There is separation from the unbeatens and the others in the Top 25.  Plus there is another separation between the Top 25 and the other teams in the NCAA.

1. Florida-vs. Vanderbilt- The Gators know they have locked down the SEC East already and they really will not have an issue with Vandy even without the quarterback of their defense Brandon Spikes.  UF 35-7

2. Texas-vs. UCF- The Longhorns seem to have a lot of cupcakes this year and they better blow out the Golden Knights because if they do not, I think they will be third again in the BCS.  The Longhorns seem to be improving every week so I do not see why they will not dominate.  TEXAS 45-10

3. Alabama-vs. 9. LSU- The Tide hasn't been the Tigers in Tuscaloosa in 10 years and LSU has progressivly got better in the past couple of weeks.  I agree with the analysts that LSU quarterback Jarod Jefferson will be the difference.  Defense ball game with the Tide winning it due to Mark Ingram.  BAMA 16-10

4. Iowa-vs. Northwestern- The Hawkeyes have been labelded the "Comeback kids" after coming back in four games this year.  Kirk Ferentz has said the ranking doesnt fit and everyone else is too.  I think you see a big game out of the Hawkeyes because nothing I hate more than the Wildcats system of alternating quarterbacks.  IOWA 41-14

5. Cincinnati-vs. UCONN- The Bearcats are on the national stage for all of us to see how they do against a Big East foe.  They still do not have Tony Pike but that hasn't really stopped them.  I think the Huskies get up for this one but it will be too much offense by the fourth quarter.  CINCY 34-24

6. TCU-at San Diego St.- The Horned Frogs have been awesome so far on the defensive end and they really have been doing all the right things.  Granted, I still do not think they deserve to be in the same league as Florida, Bama, Texas, and Iowa.  The Aztecs suck too by the way.  TCU 49-6

7. Boise State-at Lousiana Tech- People might think of this as an upset because of the extensive travel and Tech wanting to break the Broncos season.  It will not happened because the Bulldogs are not very good. I expect an inspired first half then its downhill after that.  BOISE 42-16

8. Oregon-at Stanford- "Chucks Corner Upset Alert" a couple of reasons why... ESPN has been hyping the Ducks hard and you know they are hearing all of that.  Plus you have the letdown factor against USC.  I think their defense will be too good for the Cardinal but it will be a close game.  ORE 17-14

9. LSU-SEE 3. Alabama

10. Georgia Tech-vs. Wake Forest- The Yellow Jackets have been moving up the charts with the great play of running back Jonathan Dwyer and they are playing a Wake team who probably should have won last week. Riley Skinner is banged up and Georgia Tech is at home.  GT 28-20

11. Penn State-vs. 16. Ohio State- The Nittany Lions could end the Buckeyes hopes of going to the Rose Bowl if they win and I am still not impressed with the Buckeyes.  The Nittany Lions defense is hungry and I think Daryll Clark wants this game bad.  PSU 20-13

12. USC-at Arizona State- The Trojans try to bounce back in desert this week and the Sun Devils haven't been good like in the last couple of years. I see the Trojans bounce back nicely in this one.  USC 31-14

13. Pittsburgh-vs. Syracuse- The Panthers have bolted up the BCS and the Cincy-Pitt game is looming large in the next couple of weeks.  They have a freshman stud running back in Dion Harris and the Cuse struggled against the Bearcats. I do not foresee a close game in this one.  PITT 38-17

14. Utah-vs. New Mexico- The Lobos have not won a game this year.  Rut roh.  This doesn't deserve any more talk about it.  UTAH 41-0

15. Houston-at Tulsa- Should be a good C-USA battle. Both are two good teams and I was stunned to see Casey Keenum dropped 559 yards passing last weekend.  I think the Cougars offense will be too much for the Golden Hurricane.  HOU 42-31

16. Ohio State-SEE 11. Penn State

17. Miami-vs. Virginia- The Hurricanes pulled one out of their asses last weekend. I really thought the playcalling was shotty at best down the stretch.  They are lucky to win last week but the Cavs aren't a good team. The U will roll.  MIA 31-9

18. Arizona-vs. Wash. State- I cannot believe how bad the Cougars are.  They would even take Ryan Leaf back as quarterback now that might help out things.  The Cats will take care of business.  ZONA 52-3

19. Oklahoma State-at Iowa State- The Cowboys laid a complete egg at home last weekend and now they travel for rather chilly game so far. The Cyclones are in the very weak Big 12 North and I think this one will pull away from Iowa State.  OSU 31-21

20. California-vs. Oregon State- A good battle between Jacquizz Rodgers and Jahvid Best at the running back position.  It will probably be a clock management game between these two teams and Cal will hit a late FG to win it.  CAL 23-20

21. Wisconsin-at Indiana- Good to see the Badgers back in the BCS and they have been hanging around the fourth spot in the Big 10.  Indiana seems lost and they cannot hold a lead.  This team is in a bad place and the Badger defense has been strong in the past couple of weeks.  UW 28-10

22. Notre Dame-vs. Navy- The last time the Navel Academy came to South Bend, they knocked them off but not this time.  People are starting to realize that Jimmy Clausen deserves the Heisman so far and they will have full control of this game.  ND 34-7

23. Virigina Tech- at East Carolina- The usual Thursday night game and this one brings back memories of the first week of the season last year where the Pirates upset the Hokies.  I do not for see that happening this year because ECU struggled against good teams this year so far losing by 10+ points.  VT 28-17

24. Oklahoma-at Nebraska- A classic rivalry that we do not see enough.  The Cornhuskers need to make a statement that the Big 12 North can compete with the other divison.  I will give them the benefit of the doubt and pull this one out at home.  NEB 24-21

NCAA Picks Week 9, All on Uspet Alert.

Only kidding but we really haven't had that one week where about 5-7 top 25 teams drop off, will it happen? I doubt it but who knows...

1. Florida-vs. Georgia- The Gators offense have been struggling in the last couple of weeks but the Bulldogs can not stop anyone. I also do not like the chances of the Bulldogs offense, which is primarily passing. UF 34-16

3. Texas-at 14. Oklahoma State- I doubted the Longhorns before their big time win against Missouri last weekend and now they have a tough game in Stillwater. The Cowboys still do not play any defense so I expect a true shootout. TEX 38-31

4. Iowa-vs. Indiana- The Hawkeyes are currently #1 with the computers and they impress me more every week. Despite losing Adam Robinson for the year, I do not think it will bother him against the Hoosiers. IOWA 28-6

5. USC-at 10. Oregon- The Ducks have popped out of nowhere and now are back in the Top 10. They have College Gameday in Eugene and people wonder about Matt Barkley on the road. I think that point is moot because he dominated in Notre Dame. I think this game will be close and I will take the Trojans with a late FG. USC 24-21

6. TCU-vs. UNLV- The Horned Frogs looked good on the road last weekend and they shouldn't have any issues with the Runnin' Rebels especially at home. TCU 31-3

7. Boise State-vs. San Jose State- The Broncos have bulled through the WAC like they usually do and they play a pretty weak Spartan team. This shouldn't be a game. BOISE 45-10

8. Cincinnati-at Syracuse- A possible upset lurking? The Orange play very well in the Carrier Dome and I am unsure about Tony Pike's status. Doesn't matter, their offense is too good. CINCY 45-28

9. LSU-vs. Tulane- A Louisiana rivalry and this really isn't much of a game plus the Tigers have been playing good offense/defense. My friend who goes to LSU promises a drunk-dial, cannot wait for that. LSU 35-14

10. Oregon-SEE 5. USC

11. Georgia Tech-at Vanderbilt- The Yellow Jackets go out of the conference to play the Vandy but I really do not think it will be a problem for them. Vandy had their glory years with Jay Cutler and now they have passed. GT 27-7

12. Penn State-at Northwestern- The Nittany Lions head into a challenge against the Wildcats and it will be a battle in Evenston this weekend. I think its a defensive struggle with the Lions taking care of business late. PSU 21-10

13. Virginia Tech-vs. North Carolina- The Tar Heels have underachieved so far this season and the Hokies now they need to keep winning to try to get to the ACC Championship. I think Thursday night games are like Monday Night games for the NFL. The Hokies will roll. VT 31-14

14. Oklahoma State-SEE 3. Texas

16. Utah-vs. Wyoming- The Utes have been hanging around the top 20 and they barely escaped Air Force last weekend. Utah should be fine in this one. UTAH 49-24

17. Ohio State-vs. New Mexico State- The Buckeyes bounced back nicely against the Gophers last week and now gets the typical Big 10 cakewalk game to ensure they have 12 games. OSU 52-9

18. Houston-vs. Southern Miss- The Cougars have been just hanging out in Conference USA in the past couple of weeks and they should be fine against the Eagles. They did put up a fight against Kansas, yet I see Houston pulling away late. HOU 31-20

19. Miami-at Wake Forest- I would say this has a chance for an upset but Wake has lost the last two games. I do not like there chances whatsoever to knock off Jacory Harris and the defense of the U. MIAMI 38-14

21. West Virgina- at South Florida- The Mountaineers are playing good so far and they have a tough road game against the Bulls. They got rocked though against Pittsburgh last weekend so I really do not have faith in South Florida. WV 35-17

22. South Carolina- at Tennessee- The Ole' Ball Coach use to hate the Vols in the past and Lane Kiffin was mentioned in a song by Lil Wayne, which is pretty sweet. I think the Vols defense gets its done and they actually hit a field goal this time. TENN 16-14

23. Notre Dame-vs. Washington State- The Fightin Irish are playing this game in San Antonio and they will not have an issue with this game at all. The Cougars are not a good team at all and Jimmy Clausen will drop bombs throughout the game. ND 41-17

24. California-at Arizona State- Cal stats looking better and better after their blowout from Oregon. Jahvid Best still should be consider a Heisman candidate, in my opinion. The Sun Devils really haven't done anything special so far. CAL 28-21

25. Mississippi-at Auburn- The Tigers have really struggled so far in the past couple of weeks and really haven't got the offense going. I like the Rebels to roll even being on the road. OLE MISS 34-10

NFL Picks Week 6: Where We'd Named our Child Falcon Too

If you don't why that is relevant then you really don't deserve to live. Good news its a better week than last and the Green Bay Packers are back to play. Also my roommate Nate is going to game and I am taking odds whether he will be running naked at halftime or third quarter.

St. Louis (0-5) at Jacksonville (2-3)- I told you last week that I wasn't ready to jump on the Jaguars bandwagon and the 41-o drubbing they received showed it. Maurice Jones-Drew is also suddenly unhappy, good thing they have the Rams to boost morale. JAX 31-10

New York (5-0) at New Orleans (4-0)- Oh how I wished I had DirectTV, this game should be a classic for multiple reasons. One it will prove to us how good the Saints really are on both sides of the ball. We have seen what they can do against a rookie quarterback, lets see about a Super Bowl winning one. Also the Giants haven't had the toughest schedule either and because of that, I will take the Saints catching them off-guard in the dome. NO 28-23

Carolina (0-4) at Tampa Bay (0-5)- We go to a battle of the unbeatens to a battle of the winless. This game will showcase the bottom of the barrel in the NFC South and the Panthers should win this ball game. People are really starting to get on Josh Johnson's bandwagon but I don't think the Bucs have enough. CAR 14-10

Baltimore (3-2) at Minnesota (5-0)- Great game on Sunday and one that will really prove if Brett Favre is the real deal this season. This is the first tough as nails defense he has seen all year and it's put up or shut up time. The Ravens I think come in hungry off two losses and steal one in the dome. BALT 24-21

Detroit (1-4) at Green Bay (2-2)- The Packers have won I believe 18 straight against the Lions at home and it shouldn't change on Sunday. They are talking about Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson both being inactive, which will result in a big time Packer win. GB 35-13

Houston (2-3) at Cincinnati (4-1)- A very interesting game because you have a tough Cincy defense that has been tested somewhat already although Andre Johnson is another specimen. Plus the Texans once again are in that must-win category. But the Bengals have been clutch in the fourth all year and the weather will not be nice, Who Dey pulls away in the fourth. CIN 31-21

Cleveland (1-4) at Pittsburgh (3-2)- The Steelers have beaten up on the rival Browns for the last couple of years and I do not see why things will change on Sunday. Derek Anderson only completed two passes last week against a solid Buffalo defense, what happens when he faces better defense, zero? PITT 38-7

Kansas City (0-5) at Washington (2-3)- The Redskins should be 4-1, that sounds weird but their last four games have been against winless teams and this week is unlike any other. So much turmoil in DC you wonder if they can figure it out. I feel they play uninspired and the Chiefs get a victory. KC 21-14

Seattle (2-3) at Arizona (2-2)-Big game in the NFC West as the Seahawks try to ride the momentum of a blowout road win into another victory. Kurt Warner looked very solid but remember that was on two weeks rest. I think he will look sluggish again and the Cards struggle. SEA 28-17

Philadelphia (4-1) at Oakland (1-4)- Oh this one could get ugly. Mitch has started a "Get JaMarcus out of there" campaign and the Raiders look like they could give a shit. Donovan McNabb and the boys have fun out there. PHI 35-3

Buffalo (1-4) at NY Jets (3-2)- The Bills are bad and Dick Jauron's days are winding down in upstate New York. Now they face a tough Jets D with the interception happy Trent Edwards and a pissed off Rex Ryan, rut roh. NYJ 31-10

Tennessee (0-5) at New England (3-2)- The Titans cannot catch a break but I really have to wonder why we haven't see more Vince Young. It could happen this week because Tom Brady should have a field day with this secondary. NE 38-17

Chicago (3-1) at Atlanta (3-1)- The Falcons reminded all of us that they are still a good ball club and should be a force to reckon with. The Bears have had two weeks to prepare for this game and last year's was a classic. I think you see a shootout with the last team having the ball wins the game, I say Falcons. ATL 38-35

Denver (5-0) at San Diego (2-2)- We talked a lot about Denver earlier in the week and I am a firm believer in this team. But Phillip Rivers has been known to be lights out against Denver in his career so far. Its going to be an interesting game but I think the injuries catch up to the Chargers. DEN 23-13

NFL PIcks Week 5: BOOOORING

What an awful week for the NFL. There is about one game that excites me and that's about it. The NFL did an awful job for me as a football fan, way to go.

Cincinnati (3-1) at Baltimore (3-1)- This is one of the more interesting games this week and Chad OchoCinco has promised that he will do a "Ricky Bobby" dance if scores. I hope he does and I think the Bengals can pull off a mild upset. CINCY 24-17

Carolina (0-3) at Washington (2-2)- The Panther-Redskin excites me about as much as doing 400 math problems. This will be a boring and I will take the home team in a relatively cold game. WASH 21-3

Cleveland (0-4) at Buffalo (1-3)- The Bills may be a worst team than any of us thought with putting up an awful performance against the Dolphins who were starting a virtual unknown and I think Derek Anderson can rite the ship. CLEV 28-13

Pittsburgh (2-2) at Detroit (1-3)- The Lions are without Matthew Stafford and they are playing the tough as nails Steeler defense. I think there is no way Big Ben lets this team lose this game and they will be just fine. PITT 27-9

Dallas (2-2) at Kansas City (0-4)- Some people are calling this their "upset pick" and I really dont see it, yes Arrowhead is a tough place play but the Chiefs are really bad. The offensive coordinator thing is coming back to haunt them and Tony Romo puts up big numbers against bad teams. DAL 31-17

Oakland (1-3) at NY Giants (4-0)- How easy has the Giants schedule been? Minus beating Dallas on the road, they have played the sisters of the poor for the last couple of weeks. They will win once again but be an inflated 5-0. NYG 34-10

Tampa Bay (0-4) at Philadelphia (3-1)- The Eagles get Donovan McNabb back this week and they honestly do not need him in this one. People are real high on Josh Johnson but please, the Eagle defense will make him look like a high school quarterback. PHIL 35-14

Atlanta (2-1) at San Francisco (3-1)- This is another good game this week that I will not be seeing but anyways, the Falcons have had a lot of time to be prepared. The Niners on the other hand have looked dominate on the defensive end of the ball. Should be a good one. SF 17-14

Houston (2-2) at Arizona (1-2)- The Cards are in a must-win game situation and the Texans looked very good on defense last week. I really think time is catching up to Kurt Warner and its going to show again today. HOU 28-20

Seattle (1-3) at Jacksonville (2-2)- Interesting match up that the city of Jacksonville will not see the game and Matt Hassleback comes to back from an injury. I am not ready to jump the bandwagon of either team and I will take the Seahawks by a field goal. SEA 24-21

New England (3-1) at Denver (4-0)- The Patriots have been taking out the unbeatens every week and now they face a Bronco team whose ferocious on defense. They also will be battling snowy weather. I think like in anything when its "Teacher vs. Student" you have to take the teacher. NE 17-13

Indianapolis (4-0) at Tennessee (0-4)- The Titans are struggling and they should consider Vince Young as a breath of fresh air. Although, it probably won't matter with how bad the Titans pass defense has been, oh yeah they are playing Peyton Manning. IND 38-20

NY Jets (3-1) at Miami (1-3)- We will be watching a game that features only five starts by the respective quarterbacks of each team. It could be ugly for lack of a better words and the Phins really need this win. I think Chad Henne will be rattled by the blitz heavy Jet D and get ugly NYJ 27-10

NCAA Week Six Picks: Celebrating 600

I cannot believe that 600 is already here. I know I haven't posted as much but its a really busy semester. I will try my best to keep you updated on everything. I hope to have Brewer grades and where the Crew should go next year.

1. Florida-at 4. LSU- The big will he or won't he question has been there all week about Tim Tebow and he is still isn't cleared to play. I think he will play but Meyer will wait until the very latest so Les Miles cannot game plan. I think this will be a battle with the Gators coming out on top late. UF 28-24

2. Texas-vs. Colorado- The Buffs are bad once again and you have to wonder if our favorite coach Dan Hawkins is under fire? Well maybe he will be after Colt McCoy lays a lickin' on them. TEXAS 42-16

3. Alabama-at 20. Ole Miss- I am putting the Tide on Upset Alert, I think this will be a close defensive battle and they are missing stud linebacker Tim Hightower which could really affect them. I think the Tide squeak one out but it will not be pretty. BAMA 20-17

4. LSU-SEE 1. Florida

5. Virgina Tech-vs. Boston College- The Hokies had some problems with Duke last week and BC got a big win against Florida State last week. I do not see an upset brewing in Blacksburg this week. VT 28-14

9. Ohio State-vs. Wisconsin- Upset Alert II, I think the Badgers have somewhat be disrespected so far this year. They have had some nice wins to put them in the bottom half and they almost beat the Buckeyes at home last plus they always play well at the Shoe. Bucky will come close again but heartbreak is one the way. OSU 21-14

10. TCU-at Air Force- The Horned Frogs are becoming the new BYU to me, they just get one my nerves and with that being said, playing a Falcon team whose not bad. I will pull for the upset. AF 34-28

11. Miami-vs Florida A&M- The U off a fresh win against the Sooners, they will not have any issues disposing this opponent. MIA 45-0

12. Iowa-vs. Michigan- Could have been there with JS but the drive was too taxing. I really think the Hawkeyes are playing the best Big 10 ball so far and their defense will confuse Tate Forcier all game long. IOWA 20-9

13. Oregon-at UCLA- The Ducks have discussed letting LaGarrette Blout back on the team and I am all for letting the "Ron Artest of College Football" rejoin us. The Pratts shouldn't have that much difficulty in this one, the Bruins are banged up. ORE 31-17

14. Penn State-vs. Eastern Illinois- A nice break from the Big 10 for the Nittany Lions as they should steamroll in this one. PSU 49-3

15. Oklahoma State-at Texas A&M- The Cowboys are facing a big time distraction with the ineligibility questions with their prime time receiver Dez Bryant and head into tough Kyle Field. The Aggies got smashed by the Razorbacks last week so they haven't proven anything yet. OSU 35-21

16. Kansas-vs. Iowa State- The Cyclones haven't shown much this year and the Jayhawks have been looking great on offense so far this season. I do not see anyone stopping Todd Reesing. KAN 41-13

17. Auburn-at Arkansas- The Tigers have made me look like an asshole after I called them out for hiring Gene Chizik. It looks good so far with the spread offense and they will be going up against one of the originators. Should be a good battle but I take the Tigers by a FG. AUB 20-17

18. Brigham Young-at UNLV- I really wonder what happens when the Fightin' Chets head to Las Vegas, I am sure they just lock the hotel room and stay there. No matter, they will get the win for sure. BYU 35-7

19. Oklahoma-vs. Baylor- I believe Sam Bradford will be absent from this game as well but it will not be an issue with the Bears being without their stud Robert Griffin, blowout city. OKLA 42-10

20. Ole Miss-SEE 3. Alabama

21. Nebraska- at 24. Missouri- Big time showdown rivalry tonight with the Tigers showing recent domination of this series after losing twenty-four straight. We do not know much about either team so this will be a good barometer. I will take the Tigers at home. MIZZOU 27-23

22. Georgia Tech-at Florida State- Oh boooy. This is a huge game for the Noles if they lose the pressure will be raised on Bobby Bowden to new levels and I can see it happening. The Yellow Jackets will pull away in the fourth. GT 24-14

24. Missouri- SEE 21. Nebraska

25. South Carolina-vs. Kentucky- The Gamecocks move into the Top 25 after their win against Ole Miss and they have looked really good on defense. I feel the Gamecocks should have no worries in this one. USC 24-10

Week Four NFL Picks

The reason we are early with the picks is because I will be without a computer all weekend in Stout and if I remember enough, I will have a running diary from the visit with my roommate E. Also the Packer-Viking game will be covered on Monday in a big article but I will tell you the score here.

Detroit (1-2!) at Chicago (2-1)- The Lions have finally done it, there were some tears and a lot of joyous celebration. The Bears could be filed under the luckiest team so far this season but the young Matthew Stafford will have trouble with the Bears D, no doubt. CHI 27-10

Cincinnati (2-1) at Cleveland (0-3)- These games are usually in the high 40s for some reason but with Derek Anderson as the new quarterback, there will be more turnovers then a small town bakery. I can only hope for a sweet Chad OchoCinco dance. CIN 38-14

Seattle (1-2) at Indianapolis (3-0)- The Colts have looked like they haven't missed a beat without Anthony Gonzalez and Tony Dungy now take on a banged up Seahawk team. Also add to the fact, its a noon start and west coast teams don't do that. IND 35-20

NY Giants (3-0) at Kansas City (0-3)- The Giants once again get another cakewalk game playing one of the worst teams in the NFL and they should have no problem dominating in this one. NYG 28-3

Baltimore (3-0) at New England (2-1)- These are the weeks that I wish I had DirectTV because I will probably see DET/CHI and SEA/INDY. I would much rather see this game because I think the Ravens are unproven and the Pats always seem to have their number (won the last four). It will be a classic in Boston on Sunday. NE 31-28

Tampa Bay (0-3) at Washington (1-2)- Now for my own entertainment to see the Skins lose to Tampa who couldn't find offense in the Texas Tech playbook that would be just awesome. I cannot see it happening but don't expect a blowout. WASH 17-6

Tennessee (0-3) at Jacksonville (1-2)- We discussed the Titans earlier in the week and this is a complete must-win for them. The Jags have been okay but nothing really has come out of their team yet. I think the Titans roll in this one. TEN 34-13

Oakland (1-2) at Houston (1-2)- The Texans lose this one then they might as well kiss da baby. The Raiders have a quarterback who isn't ready and the match up of the day has to be Andre Johnson versus the Raider secondary. Close until the fourth. HOU 24-13

NY Jets (3-0) at New Orleans (3-0)- CBS IF YOU LOVE ME... PLEASE LET ME SEE THIS GAME. I had to bust out the caps because this is the one game I would love to see minus the Pack/Vikes. I like both teams but I think the dome factor will rattle Matt Sanchez plus Darrelle Revis cannot do it all. NO 27-20

Buffalo (1-2) at Miami (0-3)- The Phins need this one bad and the Bills need to hope that T.O. wakes up from his coma this week although I thought he was the winner against the media this week. I think the home team gets done this week. MIA 24-10

St. Louis (0-3) at San Francisco (2-1)- Rough one for the Niners last week but this is the perfect team to play. They shouldn't have an issue with the Rams. SF 38-17

Dallas (2-1) at Denver (3-0)- It's time to find out if the Broncos are for real and you have to think they have the crowd behind them in this one. The Cowboys get Marion Barber back, which is big time trouble for the home team. DALL 24-21

San Diego (2-1) at Pittsburgh (1-2)- I am amazed the Steelers are under .500 but Troy Polomalu absence has to be having an effect on them. I almost like Phillip Rivers to tear up their secondary but cannot go against the Steelers in a night game. PITT 24-17

Green Bay (2-1) at Minnesota (3-0)- More to come on Monday but 28-24 Packers.

-Charlie.

Week Five College Football Picks

Here you go with your daily dose of College Football picks....

3. Alabama-at Kentucky- The Wildcats proved last week that they are only good at knocking out quarterbacks that seemed indestructible. The Tide should roll in this one. BAMA 31-10

4. LSU-at 18. Georgia- Usually the Bulldogs are known for their defense but this year their offense has been awesome which I would credit to the growing offense line. The Tigers have a great D but I feel they will fall to the Top 5 curse looking ahead to Florida. UGA 24-14

6. Virgina Tech-at Duke- Interesting game but the Dukies lost to a FCS team so that should be the writing on the wall. Also if you dont know who running back Ryan Williams is for the Hokies, get use to it. VT 38-17

7. USC-at 24. California- Both teams have been dealing with many things such as the Stefon Johnson injury and the thirty-nine point beating the Bears were handed last week in Autzen. I think Coach Carroll rallies the troops in this one and they win it for Stefon. USC 31-21

8. Oklahoma-at 17. Miami- The Hurricanes finished their tour of the Top 25 this week and thankfully, they will not be seeing Sam Bradford. I think the U got humbled last week and I do not believe in Landry Jones whatsoever. MIA 28-17

9. Ohio State-at Indiana- "Chuck's Corner Upset Alert II" staying in the Big 10 as well. I think this game is very interesting, the Buckeyes are missing Bam Herron and the Hoosiers should have won in Michigan last week. Late field goal for the Buckeyes to win it. OSU 23-20

10. Cincinnati-at Miami-OH- The Bearcats have vaulted to the top 10 with only one significant win. But Tony Pike is the real deal and they could make the typical Big East push into the National Championship discussion. CINCY 45-20

12. Houston-at UTEP- The Cougars are all the sudden in the Top 15... what? This has all the making of a "Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct" crazy type of year with a C-USA team in the Top 15. They win this week too. HOU 49-21

13. Iowa-vs. Arkansas State- We have covered the Hawkeyes a lot in the past couple of weeks and their defense will dominate in this one for sure. IOWA 48-3

15. Penn State-at Illinois- The Nittany Lions are out for revenge after last weekend and I think this will not be a problem even without Sean Lee. The Illini just dont have it this year. PSU 34-14

18. Georgia-SEE 4. LSU

20. BYU-vs. Utah State- The Fighting Chets are now into the grueling schedule of the MWC and meaningless non-conference games like this one. Should be a blowout. BYU 45-14

21. Ole Miss-at Vanderbilt- The Rebels had some time to find themselves after the tough loss to the Gamecocks and it should be for the better in another road game. OLE MISS 28-9

22. Michigan-at Michigan State- "Chuck's Corner Upset Alert" It has to be with the Spartans coming close against the Notre Dame and Wisconsin on the road in the last two weeks and now its a home game against their biggest rivals. Tate Forcier leads a late drive for the win. MICH 35-31

24. California-SEE 7. USC

25. Georgia Tech-at Mississippi State- Interesting game after the Bulldogs were a goal-line stand from beating LSU last weekend in Starkville. We all know that the SEC is better than the ACC and this will prove it. MISS STATE 27-21

NCAA Week Four Picks

I have no creative title with you because I am enjoying a few rum/diets. Sorry everyone who expects the creative titles but here are the picks.

1. Florida-at Kentucky- Many people were left wondering if the Gators offense isn't as good as we thought they were after Tennessee. Kentucky has always been pesky at home and they have been alright so far this season. I think this game is close until the fourth. UF 35-21

2. Texas-vs. UTEP- The Longhorns defense looked pretty good against the Red Raiders last weekend and now they get to pray on the Miners. This shouldn't be a problem for Colt McCoy. UT 52-17

3. Alabama-vs. Arkansas- A lot of hype surrounding the Crimson Tide so far and I will be interested in this game because you have a good offense going up against a great defense. Ryan Mallet will be tested for sure in this one and too much pressure in Tuscaloosa. BAMA 24-9

4. Ole Miss-at South Carolina- Covered HERE- Also I would like to say Jevan Sneed thanks for being the most overrated player in the NCAA so far. Congrats.

5. Penn State-vs. Iowa- Covered HERE

6. California-at Oregon- "Chucks Corner Upset Alert III" I put Penn State/UNC already but the Golden Bears looked alright against the Gophers last weekend plus Jahvid Best has to be the Heisman favorite so far. The Ducks looked good against Utah and I think the Autzen Zoo keeps it close yet they still fall in defeat. CAL 38-34

7. LSU-at Mississippi St.- The Tigers are beating up on the teams that they are supposed to beat so far and slowly creeping up the polls. There is no reason why they should lose to the Bulldogs even on the road. LSU 35-10

8. Boise State-at Bowling Green- Interesting matchup due to the fact its on the road for the Broncos whose offense looked awesome against the Bulldogs and the Falcons who came close to beating Missouri on the road. The Broncos win very close. BSU 41-35

9. Miami-at 11. Virginia Tech- The U has shot up to the top 10 and Jacory Harris is slowly becoming my favorite player of 2009 not named Tim Tebow. This could be a problem for the Canes because the Hokies have a great defense. Yet I agree with my roommate Seth, Virginia Tech is overrated. The U pulls away late. MIA 28-17

11. Virgina Tech- SEE 9. Miami

12. USC-vs. Washington St.- The one team I wouldn't want to be is the Cougars. This will be an absolute train wreck for them. It will get ugly. USC 42-7

13. Ohio State-vs. Illinois- The Fighting Illini have disappointed so far therefore you have to wonder about Ron Zook's job a bit. I think the Buckeyes will not have a problem in this one at home especially. OSU 27-3

14. Cincinnati-vs. Fresno St.- Wait, the Bearcats have hiked up to the top 15. Talk about a team that might be in the Top 10 for no reason but just playing in the Big East. They will dominate the Bulldogs on the offense end. CINCY 45-20

15. TCU-at Clemson- This has to be the ultimate upset alert. The Horned Frogs haven't played anybody and the Tigers have a great running back in C.J. Spiller. I am definitely taking the Tigers in this one. CLEM 24-13

16. Oklahoma St.-vs. Grambling St.- The Cowboys are lucky they are playing an FCS team because they are missing Dez Bryant, Kendall Hunter, and some random corner thats good. They should still win. OSU 35-3

17. Houston-vs. Texas Tech- The Cougars are in the top 25 because they have beat Oklahoma State and can they do it again against the Red Raiders. I say yes because I really do not think Texas Tech is that good. HOU 52-28

18. Florida State-vs. South Florida- The Noles are back in the top 20 after dismantling BYU on the road and Christian Ponder is the real deal. This game has lost its luster because Matt Grothe is done for the year. Should be a blowout. FSU 38-3

19. BYU-vs. Colorado State- The Cougars have once again become irrelevant as they falter into the bottom half of the top 25. They will be fine against the Rams. BYU 41-14

20. Kansas-vs. Southern Miss- The Jayhawks haven't played anyone so far but I really feel that the Eagles haven't played anyone special plus almost lost to Virginia. Todd Reesing and company should just dominate. KU 42-21

21. Georgia-vs. Arizona St.- The Sun Devils are the top defense in the nation so far but they have played teams that are comparable to the Special Olympics. The Bulldogs showed me something last week and they should be fine against ASU. DAWGS 34-13

22. North Carolina-at Georgia Tech- This is a weak one but "Chucks Corner Upset Alert". This one has to fall into place. The Yellow Jackets are mad about the lost from last week and the Tar Heels haven't done much so far this year. GT 28-14

23. Michigan-vs. Indiana- The Wolverines get their taste of Big 10 football but the Hoosiers who are undefeated, shouldn't be a problem for Michigan. They should do work on Saturday. MICH 35-10

24. Washington-at Stanford- You have to wonder if this is a for sure letdown for the Huskies after beating the Trojans. This game will be close and it will be an ugly performance by both teams. I like Jake Locker so he will pull them out late. WASH 20-17

25. Nebraska-vs. LA Layfette- The Cornhuskers are playing another cupcake after losing a tight one last week against the Hokies. They should be fine in this one. NEB 49-6

NFL Picks: Week 2: Talkin' More Trash Than Kerry Rhodes

New England (1-0) at New York Jets (1-0)- This is one of the big games of the weekend with a lot of trash talking by Rex Ryan and Kerry Rhodes saying how much they are going to beat down the Pats. I wouldn't piss off Tom Brady and Bill Bellichek just like Urban Meyer/Tim Tebow so this could get ugly. I think Simmons will see his FU touchdown again. NE 35-21

New Orleans (1-0) at Philadelphia (1-0)- This was going to be a good game until Donovan McNabb got his rib cracked. I think Kevin Kolb is not very good and will need his defense to carry him. The Saints will also prove if they are the real deal against a very good defense and I think they will win handily because of Kolb's inefficiently. NO 20-7

St. Louis (0-1) at Washington (0-1)- The Redskins looked okay against the Giants who were very tough and now they play the team that looked the worst last Sunday. I think Jason Campbell and all the offense will have a big time stats increase. WASH 38-17

Arizona (0-1) at Jacksonville (0-1)- Well the Cardinals have been horrible when they are playing at noon starts and the Jaguars defense looked tough against the Colts. I think the Jags need more from David Garrard and the Cards need to hope that Anquan Boldin is ready to go. Jags pull it out late. JAX 21-17

Carolina (0-1) at Atlanta (1-0)- The Panthers are wondering what their identity is after Jake Delhomme looks like a complete corpse. Despite my main man Simmons says I really don't see any hope for Jake the Snake and I am believer that Atlanta's defense is the real deal. ATL 31-14

Minnesota (1-0) at Detroit (0-1)- Will this be the week for the Lions? They have played the Vikes tough at home and Brett Favre has struggled in Ford Field. Adrian Peterson will be way too much for the Lions but I feel they keep it somewhat close. MINN 34-21

Cincinnati (0-1) at Green Bay (1-0)- I watched Hard Knocks this week and I was a huge fan of the Bengals team just because they were very humorous especially Ocho Cinco. Although this week will not be good for them with tough defense again and Aaron Rodgers having a big game. GB 28-10

Houston (0-1) at Tennessee (0-1)- Both teams need this game desperately and they usually play tight games against each other. I think the Texans need this game more and we will know if they are the sleeper that everyone has been saying. The Titans will drain Houston out with the running back tandem. TEN 21-14

Oakland (0-1) at Kansas City (0-1)- This game will be like watching paint dry and the Raiders did look impressive against San Diego. Also Richard Seymour will carry this defensive line who will play well all year because he needs a contract. The Chiefs defense isn't that good at all so Run DMC/Michael Bush should take care of business. OAK 35-17

Tampa Bay (0-1) at Buffalo (0-1)- What an awful game. I am sorry to anyone who has to watch this game on Sunday. I will look forward to see Terrell Owens try to self-explode possibly on Sunday. TO probably will have a big game because the Bucs couldn't stop the pass. BUF 24-9

Seattle (1-0) at San Francisco (1-0)- This is an interesting game for many reasons because I think we all are wondering if the Niners are the real deal same goes with Matt Hassleback. I think this will be a close NFC West battle with the Hawks hitting a field goal late. SEA 24-21

Baltimore (1-0) at San Diego (1-0)- The Ravens are getting a lot of hype for their offense which is really unfair due to the Chiefs comparable to High School defense. This will say a lot about both teams. I am taking the Ravens but I will be interested to see if the Chargers do better with Darren Sporles back there. BALT 17-10

Pittsburgh (1-0) at Chicago (0-1)- A great way to start out Jay Cutler's career at Solider Field but he did tear up the Steelers last time they played. I actually think this will be high scoring for Pittsburgh due to Brian Urlacher being out of the game. PITT 35-20

Cleveland (0-1) at Denver (1-0)- This a weird rivalry because the John Elway game and Ernest Byner game as well. Plus the Jay Cutler comeback last season too. This game will be weird again in someway and the Broncos will somehow be 2-0. DEN 24-16

New York Giants (1-0) at Dallas (1-0)- The odds that the scoreboard gets hit? I am really pulling for that to happen. I think this will be the best game of the weekend with Tony Romo's new passing game plus the Giants defense being back. Also it will be interesting to see if Eli Manning develops a relationship with any of the receivers. I take the home team close. DAL 24-17

Indianapolis (1-0) at Miami (0-1)- The Dolphins looked like the 1-15 team last weekend and Peyton Manning's defense actually helped him out more than ever last week. I think he will be fine without Anthony Gonzalez and I see real no hope with the Phins. IND 34-10

NCAA Week Two Picks: Where Forcier Can Send His 1600 Friend Requests

I am really work on creative titles. That one is about as cheesy as it gets so if you think you have better ones for the picks and the wrap-up each week email me at tritscca@uwec.edu contemplating a gmail account for the Corner itself. Anyways, lets goooooo

1. Florida-vs. Tennessee- There a couple things that I wouldn't do in life. One of those things would be to not piss off Urban Meyer and the boys from Florida. If Lane Kiffin would have just said like Lovie Smith did, "I'm here to beat the Floridas, Georgias, and Alabamas and try to build a program." Well he didnt do that and now he will be getting his ass kicked. UF 49-21

2. Texas-vs. Texas Tech- Another team who is seeking revenge this weekend after the "Michael Crabtree game" last year where the Red Raiders put their stamp on the map. They have played a fluff schedule so far and they struggle on the road, rut roh. The Longhorns win handily. UT 38-16

3. USC-at Washington- The Trojans need to be careful in this one with having Taylor Mays/Matt Barkley both banged up and a Husky team who would like to show they belong plus some added USC ties. I think this game is close until the fourth quarter. USC 31-21

4. Alabama-vs. North Texas- This shouldn't be a challenge for the Crimson Tide who are getting themselves prepared for the dog fight in the SEC. BAMA 35-3

5. Penn State-vs. Temple- Didn't the Owls get rid of their football team? Oh wait they just downgraded leagues. Well Joe Pa's bunch hasn't played any juggernauts yet but their D does look intimidating. PSU 38-3

5. Mississippi-vs. SE Louisiana- The Rebels are in the same spot as the Cowboys last week. Are they for real or not? Good thing they are playing an FCS team so there shouldn't be a letdown at all. OLE MISS 45-14

7. BYU-vs. Florida State- Before my blog got deleted, I said how weird and strange it was that a top powerhouse program was nowhere to be found in a top 25 heading to a non-BCS team. It will be another tough weekend for the ACC as the Noles will fall again. BYU 27-17

8. California-at Minnesota- Another Chuck's Corner Upset Alert!! I think this one makes perfect sense to be a very tight ball game. The Golden Bears are usually just getting up when this game begins therefore the internal clocks might not be there. The stadium is still brand new and they want to protect the turf. Jahvid Best wills his team to victory, barely. CAL 31-28

9. LSU-vs. LA Layfette- Like I said before, the blog got deleted at some point while writing therefore I have no real ounce of care in my body to tell you about this one... blowout. LSU 34-17

1o. Boise State-at Fresno State- Chuck's Corner's Upset Alert time... The Bulldogs looked very impressive against Wisconsin who I would consider a middle of the road Big Ten team on the road. The Bulldogs have a great offense with an average defense. But I call the upset happens in the Valley. FSU 41-35

11. Ohio State-at Toledo- The Rockets put up a huge number of points against "Intermurals Brother" but I highly doubt this will happen against the Buckeyes. They are hungry, out for revenge from last weekend. OSU 35-17

12. Oklahoma-vs. Tulsa- This will be the first true test for Landry Jones and his mustache to see if he is the real deal because the Golden Hurricane are a decent team. They aren't the best yet they will push him. Close until the fourth. OKLA 38-24

13. Virginia Tech-vs. 19. Nebraska- The Hokies head into another tough game where Tyrod Taylor will be tested and I think he is a bit like Terrelle Pryor in using his legs too damn much. If he loses this one, I think we have to put him into question. I think Taylor pulls it out late in a defensive struggle. VT 17-13

14. Georgia Tech-at 20. Miami- This is the big showdown tomorrow night where the Yellow Jackets have won four straight against the Canes and Miami has a chance to prove that they have staying power if they win. I think the U gets it done, they had a lot of time to prepared and they are ready for a big time win at home. MIAMI 24-21

15. TCU-vs. Texas State- This game will get ugly seeing as they are playing the Sisters of the Poor. The Horned Frogs have it pretty easy on Saturday. TCU 42-0

16. Okla. State-vs. Rice- I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I was that the Cowboys lost last Saturday. I always like new teams breaking the mold of the regulars and they proved they are just another pretender. Pokes get it done this week though. OSU 38-10

17. Cincinnati-at Oregon St.- I think this is a true test to see who is the real deal. One side have the Tony Pike-Mardy Gilyard connection while on the other side you got Jacquizz Rodgers and friends. This will be a battle but I think the Beavers get it done on a late FG. OSU 34-31

18. Utah-at Oregon- The Fightin Mitch Pratts welcome a non-BCS team to the Autzen Zoo where it isn't easy to get a win. The Ducks are still tyring to find themselves after a close win against Purdue who isn't all that special. Oregon will find a way to find and not lose to another mid-major. ORE 35-24

19. Nebraska- SEE 13. Virginia Tech

20. Miami- SEE 14. Georgia Tech

22. Kansas-vs. Duke- Does anyone wish this was scheduled as a basketball game? This will be a thrashing of the Blue Devils with the high-power Jayhawk offense. KU 45-6

23. Georgia-at Arkansas- The Dawgs have not found a way to stop anyone on defense which concerns me going up a team featuring Ryan Mallet and a real good offensive plan. This one has all the making of an upset with the Hogs have two weeks to prepare plus a home-opener. ARK 28-24

24. North Carolina-vs. East Carolina- The Tar Heels got bailed out by a safety last weekend and they play a Pirate team who isn't shy of the upset. This one will be close for awhile but a big turnover will change the game. UNC 31-17

25. Michigan-vs. Eastern Michigan- If the Wolverines have a let down in this one, I think that all hope is lost for the program. They should be fine and like I said earlier in the week, Tate Forcier is the real deal. MICH 42-9

NFL Picks: Week 1: Where Blogger Cant Saved

I was going to do the full thing plus thoughts on Richard Seymour but I want to get crunk so I am just giving you the one game tonight. Also I apologize if there are short but I already did them so I dont feel like explaining it again.

Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers- I think the Titans have a chance to be the first team in 10 years to beat last year Super Bowl team in Week 1 but they are going to have pressure Big Ben like last year. Also they are going to have to find away for Kerry Collins to hit a couple deep balls to open the run. I doubt that happens and I think a key turnover sways it to the Steelers. PITT 24-17

Jacksonville at Indianapolis- The Colts have had many problems with the Jaguars before both at home/away but they are playing a team whose best player is banged up plus a pretty shotty defense. Peyton shouldn't have any problems. IND 31-10

Detroit at New Orleans- Does the Lions have some hope for the streak to end? Nope. It should be tough for Matthew Stafford's first game and the Saints will just destroy that defense including Drew Brees giving his fantasy fans huge leads. NO 38-14

Dallas at Tampa Bay- People are big on the Cowboys this year which they are most years but like Emmitt Smith, I am not sold. I think Dallas should win this game with how bad the Bucs could be missing their offensive coordinator. DAL 23-13

Philadelphia at Carolina- Another team that I was pretty high on. I think the Eagles are a team to be reckoned with and Donovan McNabb has been known for slow starts in the past. I do not see it happening here with their defense shutting down the run. PHI 24-9

Kansas City at Baltimore- The Chiefs haven't got off to a good start this year with dealing their top passing threat, then getting rid of their offensive coordinator, and finally knowing if they are going to have Matt Cassel this week. Also they are going up against a top notch defense, not good. BALT 35-7

New York Jets at Houston- This year's sexy pick in the Texans with all of their players growing up. But they are going up against in my opinion a top notch defense for game number one. I think Mark Sanchez should be fine but he will have some mistakes. Expect this to be a close one. HOU 21-17

Miami at Atlanta- The Dolphins were a shocker last year just like the Falcons were. I think Atlanta has a chance to stay on top with Matt Ryan progressing very quickly plus adding Tony Gonzalez. I think this has a chance to be the best game this weekend. ATL 28-24

Denver at Cincinnati- I couldn't believe that my main man Bill Simmons picked the Broncos to the playoffs. I really cannot see it with all the problems especially in this one. The Bengals aren't great but they have a healthy quarterback who is better than Orton when healthy. CIN 35-23

Minnesota at Cleveland- Favre heads to the Dog Pound where I am hoping he gets booed to the high heavens. It will be an interesting game to watch to see how the offense is run and I think Brady Quinn will be able to drive down the field a couple times although not enough. MIN 31-17

Washington at New York Giants- I think the Giants have a chance to be good once again and Eli Manning needs to find a receiver to throw to because when he is at his best, he needs that guy. I do not believe that the Redskins will have enough offense to keep up with the G-Men. NYG 27-10

San Francisco at Arizona- The 49ers are a team without their top pick which must suck and they really do not have an defense either. They should however be able to run the ball against Arizona. The Cardinals will be better at the beginning of the year then in November so they will get done Sunday. ARI 38-28

St. Louis at Seattle- Once again, I get to talk about the NFC West yes! The Seahawks should be revamped and be way better than last year. I think the Rams are going to be better than last year but not enough against the Hawks. SEA 24-7

Chicago at Green Bay- It's probably the biggest game of the weekend and I couldn't be more excited for 7:20 on Sunday night. I think it has a chance to either be defense stalwart or a shootout. I actually could see Jay Cutler struggling with their new offense set up too. Packers win by a late Mason Crosby FG. GB 27-24

Buffalo at New England- The Bills are once again off to a rousing start with Terrell Owens complaining about the offense and also they have no coordinator on offense. The Patriots offense looks like they could be as unstoppable as their undefeated year. Should be a breeze. NE 41-17

San Diego at Oakland- How great would it be if Richard Seymour just came in from the sky with Al Davis and give the Black Hole a big "JUST WIN BABY!" But in all seriousness, this shouldn't be a problem for the offense of the Chargers. SD 45-17

Enjoy it.

Top 25 Picks: Week 2- I am Wearing Brett-a-Palooza on My Eye Black

If you are curious what Brett-a-Palooza is well its basically three nights/two dayish of drinking in honor of my roommate Brett who turns 21 at midnight tonight. Obviously the Eye-Black was reference to Terrelle Pryor who put "Mike Vick" on his eye black like former USC Trojan Reggie Bush put 6-1-9 on his. I personally have no problem with Pryor supporting childhood idol but what I have a problem with is his statement from the NY Daily News "Not everybody is a perfect person in this world. I mean, everyone does ... kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me." Err... You cannot say everybody kills, thats just not smart whatsoever. Anyways on to the picks.......

1. Florida-vs. Troy- Yawn... another roll-over win for Tebow and the boys who looked like they are picking off where they left off. UF 56-6

2. Texas-at Wyoming- Interesting to see the Longhorns on the road but this isnt a game that should worry their fans. Despite the excited crowd, there is no way the Cowboys win this one. UT 35-14

3. USC-at 8. Ohio State- The other real big game this weekend and this one could get ugly. Even with the whole non-believers thing and the fact Pete Carroll has struggled against running quarterbacks. All it will take is one turnover in the first half and this thing will get ugly. Also I dont the Buckeyes can stop anything on the defense side of the ball. USC 42-28

4. Alabama-vs. Florida Int'l- The Tide looked pretty impressive last weekend against the Hokies and I feel that I may have underestimated them. No problems this week. BAMA 45-9

5. Oklahoma St.-vs. Houston- Lets not forget about a possible letdown after the big win last week cementing them into the top teams. I think this game will be close til the fourth when Dez Bryant helps the Pokes pull away. OSU 41-27

7. Penn State-vs. Syracuse- The Orange's quarterback Greg Paulus got off to a pretty good start last Saturday against the Gophers. Too bad Penn State going to show him how the big boys play. PSU 38-14

8. Ohio State-SEE 3. USC

9. BYU-at Tulane- Chuck's Corner Upset Alert!! Look out for this game to be very close and down to the very end. You have to think the Cougars are going to come in a bit stary-eyed. They pull it out with a field goal. BYU 16-13

10. California-vs. Eastern Washington- This one will get really ugly and Jahvid Best may run for a 1000 in this game alone. CAL 62-3

11. LSU-vs. Vanderbilt- I thought about putting the Tigers on Alert again but first game in the Death Valley should be enough to inspire them. LSU 24-13

13. Oklahoma-vs. Idaho State- Landry Jones takes over the team with his moustache and all. They should be able to work many things out this week. OKLA 45-7

14. Virigina Tech-vs. Marshall- In the days of Chad Pennington and Randy Moss, this might have been a ball game but with the Hokies coming off a lost plus the Herd has sucked since that time, ugly. VT 42-10

15. Georgia Tech-vs. Clemson- The Yellow Jackets had a pretty big cakewalk to star the season off but I think that CJ Spiller and the Tigers could pull off the upset tonight. Tech wins by a field goal because of the better quarterback. GT 24-21

16. TCU-at Virigina- The ACC is about as bad as the AFC West in the NFL with two teams going down to FCS teams. The Cavaliers were one of those teams and now they play the Horned Frogs, rut roh. TCU 31-0

17. Utah-at San Jose St.- Well seeing as the third best team beat these Spartans by 53, I think the Utes will beat them by 35. UTAH 42-7

18. Notre Dame-at Michigan- This is the big match up to find out whose legit in these two classic powerhouses. I honestly think the Irish are going to flex their muscles on the offense end and the Wolverines do not have enough to compete with them on the offense side either. ND 31-17

19. North Carolina-at UConn- The Tar Heels got an easy go of it with a win against FCS team but now they face a sneaky Husky team on the road. I think this one will be close and high scoring with the better team prevailing. UNC 35-31

21. Georgia-vs. South Carolina- Chuck's Corner Upset Alert Part II I don't like the fact that Joe Cox their quarterback is pretty banged up and the fact their offense couldn't do much last weekend either with a good Gamecock D. The Ol' Ball Coach gets an upset. USC 13-10

22. Nebraska-vs. Arkansas St.- They need not to overlook the Wildcats with the big game against Va. Tech looming but this team isn't good. The run game will smother them. NEB 38-10

24. Kansas-at UTEP- Another Big 12 team makes a road trip and once again, it will not mean much at all. The Miners aren't very good and the Jayhawks' offense is unstoppable. KU 49-13

25. Missouri-vs. Bowling Green- The Tigers return after their ass kicking of rival Illinois this past weekend and they shouldn't have any issues dismantling the Falcons. MIZZOU 37-17

Top 25 Picks: Week 1 Where I Wont Sucker Punch Seet

My friend Seth may give me a few insights but this is a pretty easy week. Once we get to the conference play thats when it gets though. Quick thoughts on LaGarrete Blount, he should have been suspended but I really think it should have only been half of a season because he was provoked after a tough loss. Granted, it was completely uncalled for but the lineman from Boise should have got suspended too.

1. Florida-vs. Charleston Southern- I thought about betting on this +62.5 spread but didnt. Anyways Tim Tebow probably puts them away middle second quarter at the latest. UF 56-10

2. Texas-vs. Louisiana-Monroe- Any team that has a - in their name is usually a 1-AA, D2, D3 team. Monroe is none of those but they really do suck. Colt McCoy-Jordan Shipley will make it rain out there. UT 38-3

3. Oklahoma-vs. 20 BYU- This is being played at new Cowboys Stadium so you wonder which punter will hit the scoreboard and I honestly think the Sooners will not blow out the Cougars with how good Max Hall is. I think this game will be close and high scoring. US 45-35

4. USC-vs. San Jose State- This will probably be a blowout but I think the game is worth watching to see how true freshman Matt Barkley will do in his first game. Like I said before shouldn't be a problem for Coach Pete Carroll. USC 31-6

5. Alabama- vs. Virginia Tech- Lets remember last year Bama came into Atlanta and knocked out Clemson right out of the Top 25. Granted, I do not see that happening this year but it will be a close game. I think that the experience that Tyrod Tyler brings gets the Hokies the win. VT 20-17

6. Ohio State-vs. Navy- Well the Naval Academy has been good in the last couple of years but they are no match for Ohio State. They will put up some points on the young offense but Terrelle Pryor will be way too much. OSU 35-13

7. Virginia Tech- SEE 5. Alabama

8. Mississippi-at Memphis (Sunday)- "Chucks Corner Upset Alert Part II" I think the Rebels might buy into some of the hype that they have around them and I really believe that the Tigers like the fact they got Ole Miss at home. Tough battle but Ole Miss pulls it out. OLE MISS 27-20

9. Penn State-vs. Akron- Joe Paterno is still around and he has a great chance to be successful this year. I think the Lions will have no problems with the Zips who haven't been relevant in God knows whenever. PSU 42-10

9. Oklahoma State-vs. 13. Georgia- I think this is the best game of the weekend. I think the Cowboys could be the surprise team outside of the Top 5 to contend for the National Championship. I think the Cowboys will be able to put up enough points to make up for their shotty defense. OSU 31-24

11. LSU-at Washington- "Chucks Corner Upset Alert" This is one of two upset alerts but I think the Tigers could have some problems heading to Washington. They always play well at home plus the Tigers' quarterback situation is a bit sketchy. They win by a Field Goal. LSU 24-21

12. California-vs. Maryland- The Golden Bears have been fairly successful when a team from east of the Mississippi comes to play in Berkley. I dont see this being a very close game with the Terps having a ton of questions on defense. CAL 34-20
13. Georgia- SEE 9. Oklahoma State

15. Georgia Tech-vs. Jacksonville St.- Another 1-AA versus a Top 25, that should get ugly again. Jonathan Dwyer should have no problem running amok against Jacksonville St. GT 45-3

18. Florida State-vs. Miami- Can we see another "Wide Right"? There have been some very physical games in the past and the Canes have one of the toughest starts in the nation. They need this win bad but Christian Ponder helps the Noles pull it out. FSU 17-13

20. BYU-SEE 3. Oklahoma

21. North Carolina- vs. Citadel- Well once again this will not be a game and I wont be surprised if they let one of the basketball players carry the ball in the fourth quarter. UNC 55-13

22. Iowa-vs. Northern Iowa- Shouldn't be a problem at all for the Hawkeyes with all the talent that they have. IOWA 52-10

23. Notre Dame-vs. Nevada- The Fightin' Irish begin Cupcake 09 with the Wolfpack who arent even as powerful as the former Black/Red of WCW. They have so much back on the offense end that they really wont miss a beat. ND 35-17

24. Nebraska-vs. Florida Atlantic- The Cornhuskers are back in the Top 25 and face an Owl team that hasn't been all that great in the past couple of years. The Huskers will take care of business as usual. NEB 49-14

25. Kansas-vs. Northern Colorado- The one thing we know about Northern Colorado is that they had a punter stab another one. Other than that, we know nothing. This should be ugly. KU 58-3

Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend
