Trying to get caught up on the sports world. Once again, my apologies but I have some free time Friday afternoon while my main man JS is doing the school thing at Iowa. I hope to be all done by then but who knows a couple NBA stories...
Stephen Jackson goes to Charlotte... hahahahahaha- This could of been the best place for this asshole to go. I didn't want him to go to a new team and self-destruct the team (only if it was LeBron... I kid). He is the biggest cancer in the NBA right now, just creates problems. Also poor Charlotte... they get a team back and now they have $36 million dollars tied up in 2011 to four players who will not be superstars (Big ups to one of the ESPN guys who had that on Twitter, I want to say it was Marc Stein). The Bobcats will find a new location by 2012, trust me. Or if that awful movie proves to be true, there will be no basketball (Side Note: How the hell does that shitty John Cusack flim make 65 million?! That just shows movie-goers have no taste).
The end of Allen Iverson- It is so sad that Allen Iverson is now a nobody in the NBA world. I know when its all said and done, he may be the reason why the NBA suffered such a decline after Michael Jordan and the lockout. No one liked the tattoos and the attitude, whatever the guy was a new kind of point guard. He did some many great things on defense and drove to the hoop better than any short point guard I have ever seen. I hope Ivo goes to New York, only so he has an opportunity to play and end his career on the right note. If he goes to a team like Cleveland will be a complete disaster, trust me. We all know he doesn't want to play on the bench, just know that.

NBA Southwest Division Preview
Keep it going, I am not really that tired so you are getting more of the preview....
1. San Antonio Spurs: KEY PLAYERS: PF Tim Duncan, PG Tony Parker, SG Manu Ginobili OUTLOOK: I think the Spurs have a chance to win the NBA Finals with the additions of Richard Jefferson, Antonio McDyess, and DeJuan Blair. They have to stay healthy though to have a chance. PREDICTION: 2nd in the Western Conference.
2. Dallas Mavericks: KEY PLAYERS: PF Dirk Notwitzki, SG Josh Howard, SF Shawn Marion OUTLOOK: I wasn't as excited as everybody else about the Marion deal but it should improve them in many ways especially on the defensive end. The Mavs will have a good year from Dirk who isn't dealing with that crazy bitch. PREDICTION: 5th in the Western Conference.
3. Houston Rockets: KEY PLAYERS: PG Aaron Brooks, PF Luis Scola, SF Chuck Hayes OUTLOOK: This seems to be the definition of a scrappy team with a bunch of maybe players and they will be dominated by bigger teams. It will be interesting to see what happens when T-Mac comes back in November. PREDICTION: 9th in the Western Conference.
4. New Orleans Hornets: KEY PLAYERS: PG Chris Paul, C Emeka Okafor, PF David West OUTLOOK: Could create some problems inside with the West-Okafor combination but they have no real mid-range player that makes a difference, please don't say Peja because he is over the hill. PREDICTION: 10th in Western Conference
5. Memphis Grizzlies: KEY PLAYERS: SF Rudy Gay, SG OJ Mayo, PF Zach Randolph OUTLOOK: This has more an And-1 Mixtape team, big time offense with no defensive concepts whatsoever. If they could somehow find a way to play defense then maybe they could do some things. I highly doubt it though. PREDICTION: 12th in the Western Conference.

Clippers Make a Good Deal? What the Hell?
I dont know what to make fun of in this article. I thought about making fun of the Los Angeles making a good decision or the General Manager of the Memphis Grizzles Chris Wallace making another awful one. I choose the Clips because I am in the nice mode for awhile. The deal that went down to today was the Clips sent disgruntled, always troubled Zach Randolph to the Grizzlies for Quentin Richardson's expiring contract.
The Clippers free up a bunch of money for the 2010 year and now the Michael Wilbon theory about LeBron James being a possibility for Los Angeles with a bunch of young talent and now a bunch of money looks like a complete reality. But the true question is can it really happen? I hate doing the 2010 thing but I have a hard time seeing Kobe-LeBron in the same city. Doesnt seem like the town is big enough but it would bring to life a Clipper fan base like never before. I also like the deal in terms of chemistry, Richardson isnt the greatest teammate but a helluva lot better than Randolph. They now have a very exciting back court with Baron Davis-Richardson-Eric Gordon and will provide some good minutes off the bench.
Oh Chris Wallace....this goes down in the books as another one of your screw ups. I mean it makes sense in terms of not wanting to throw Hasheem Thabeet their second overall pick to the wolves right away but really Randolph? Like I said before this guy isnt a good locker room guy and not someone you want Thabeet to learning life lessons from. In addition, he will not give your fans something to get excited about... Randolph! Gasol er.. Marc! and any other foreign country you can think of! Come cheer on your Grizzlies in 09-10. That being said, I think Randolph will be a complete disaster for Memphis in the long run.

An Ode to the Grizzlies Franchise
If you didnt hear or didnt care, the Memphis Grizzlies fired their head coach Marc Iavaroni after an 11-30 start and in my opinion, the Grizzlies are one of the top 5 worst franchises in the four sports so we will take a look back into the Vancouver days and now the Memphis years...
-First a look at their draft history, they drafted at first Big Country Bryant Reeves who was a beast in college and failed pretty badly in the pros. He was the best player at that time with the sixth pick but one pick higher, Kevin Garnett.
-The next year was an awful decision with Shareef Abual-Rahim when they had Ryan Allen, Stephon Marbury (yes headcase but still good for a couple years) and oh yeah Kobe Bryant.
- Antonio Daniels another big time bust with Tracy McGrady still out there and given his career Tim Thomas would have been upgrade to this scrub.
- Mike Bibby was a good pick and forgot he spent two years on the Grizzlies until traded for White Chocolate himself Jason Williams and this deal was pretty good. Still Vancouver missed out on Antwan Jamison, Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, and Paul Pierce. Dont get me wrong, Bibby was a good point guard but not on the level on those four guys.
- Stevie Franchise didnt even want to come to Vancouver and that was big time blow to the team as well just in general. Weird that now he is with the Memphis Grizzlies.
-They traded away every star on the franchise like Pau Gasol which was an awful trade, Shane Battier was traded to get Rudy Gay so that made sense but still he was an asset to the team. They had a playoff team for awhile and Chris Wallace really screwed everything up.
Things have started to pick up in recent years getting Mike Conley, O.J. Mayo, and Rudy Gay if they can get Blake Griffen this draft they will become a legit young team but my point is it might not be the coaches just the way the draft have gone for this team in the first couple of years. They havent had a star player like a Gasol who wanted to make Memphis a winner until they find that, they will never be a top four Western Conference team.
