I realize this is a few days late but I already explained my situation. I cannot help but think that Cleveland is still hurting from Thursday night even though they signed Kyle Lowry today. I can understand somewhat Cavs fans of what you are going through right now. I don't believe I am on your level of grieving but I truly do get what is going on. It's an uber reality where you believe it's a sports nightmare where you might have been the only one happy for 12 hour coverage of George Steinbrenner today because you didn't have to see LeBron.
The wheels began to turn on this when your friend Eric asked the Sports Guy on Twitter, what is a bigger slap in the face: LBJ leaving Cleveland or Brett Favre leaving Green Bay for Minnesota. I thought about this for awhile because I knew Simmons probably wouldn't tweet Eric back. I had trouble coming with a decision and had to remind myself how mad I was about the Brett Favre to Minnesota thing last season.
What's funny is I told people that LeBron was much worse but then looking back on the Favre thing, I couldn't have been more mad. I really had so much hate in my stomach that week, that first game the Minnesota Viking plays, and the first game against Favre. Then when the Packers got swept, and lost the division, I felt like I needed to drink 50 beers to swallow the pain.
But what I haven't dealt with it is none of my three local teams never winning a championship for the city. Since 1948, there hasn't been a victory parade in the city of Cleveland. At least I have the Packers 97' Super Bowl to go off and I can be content knowing I saw one championship in my lifetime while some fans have never seen one. It's not just that Cleveland has a bunch of shitty teams for years upon years (right now all three are awful). The Fumble, The Drive, Jose Mesa, and the two LeBron choke jobs are all examples of the pain this city has felt without winning one championship.
The LeBron's choice to leave for Miami hurt more than Favre because this dealt blow for the Cleveland fan base to win championship or even have a competitive team. The Packers went to the playoffs when Favre went to Minnesota and we had a star in Aaron Rodgers. The Cavs have none of that, I mean who they look to... Antwan Jamison? That is about it for the Cavs and let's not forget, LeBron is from Ohio. I wrote two weeks ago that LeBron didn't care about the city for the franchises he adored in other sports. I think that point made it clear when LeBron decide to announce on national television that he would leave Cleveland for South Beach.
An Ohio kid basically told the state that it was too small for him and he needed to move on to create new memories. He didn't care about the history of Cleveland ever and for that I am sorry to the fans who believed that. I am sorry that you had a selfish basketball player even though your ownership should shoulder more blame than they actually have. Cleveland weeps again and hopefully they will find a championship in something before I turn 50.

Jim Joyce: Hated More Than Honda
My roommates and I started using people's last names to describe a tendency that said person does a lot. For instance, one of them tends to expand the truth a wee bit so his last name gets inserted into anything we believe to be a lie. Anyways, there is a new last name that we can put in that category, Joycin it also known as missing something big. For example, "Hey did you catch the new Entourage?!" "Nope, I really Joyced that one guys. Or "Dude she flashed the whole party, where were you?!" "I was in the bathroom, man I really Joyced it tonight."
If you didn't hear already from ESPN, Brian Anderson, talk radio, or your grandmother... Jim Joyce called Jacob McDonald safe on a close play in the 9th inning of a perfect game being spun by Armando Galarraga. People were pissed to say the least after the game let out, and manager Jim Leyland who likely was drunk just became irate at Joyce and for good reason. He missed a call that would have gave the Tigers a perfect game performance and our third perfect game this year plus two in one week. All of those stats would be phenomenal and something to talk about for the coming days. Instead, we have to listen to people talk about Galarraga should be awarded a no-hitter or a perfect game and how this is the clear-cut example to add instant replay in baseball
Of course, a ninny like Keith Olbermann believes Galarraga should get a perfect game but to be honest, I do not think he wants that sort of treatment. He had the best reaction after McDonald was called safe, almost like my buddy Eric's look of "Yeah that would happen to me." After the game, both sides were complete class acts about the whole ordeal. Joyce apologized profusely in his post-game interview and Galarraga talked to him ending it with a bromance hug. That is the reason why it should just be a one-hitter, mistakes happen all the time in various fields of work and both parties seemed to understand that tonight. Nothing made me happier than Joyce owning up to his mistake and Galarraga acting like he pitched a helluva game with no chance of a perfect game.
As for instant replay, if replay is expanded I want to hear people shut up about the length of the game. Because if you add replay, you add vital minutes in a game. I really could care less either way, I mean all professional sports have it except for baseball but what will piss me off are the people who campaigned for replay but also want shorter games. Face it, you cannot make it work in my opinion. Who knows what the outcome will be but to me, it would be shocking if nothing changed after tonight's ordeal.

AL Central Preview
We have now moved to the AL Central, a division that I feel will be up and down, with three teams battling all year. Let's get it.
1. Minnesota Twins- KEY ACQ: 2B Orlando Hudson, SS JJ Hardy I LIKE: Francisco Lirano- Everything that I am hearing about him has been fantastic. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a huge year like he did a couple years back. I HATE: Closer by Committee- Honestly, there isn't a guy on the Twins I hate but I do not like Gardy's idea of going with CbC because it never seems to work, trust me Ned Yost tried a couple times leading to epic fails. PREDICTION: The Twins will win because I think they have a good nucleus of good players and they have enough starting pitching to win the average AL Central. I do not expect the Twins to make any noise in the postseason unless they get a closer.
2. Chicago White Sox- KEY ACQ: DH Andruw Jones 3B Mark Teahan I LIKE: Gordon Beckham- Most people would know that Becks is a big time prospect and with his feet offically wet in the big leagues could lead to a big year. I HATE: Jake Peavy- I think this was a horrible trade to begin with, injury prone plus NL to AL is not a positive sign, and to add he pitched in a very friendly pitchers' park. PREDICTION: If Peavy doesn't disappoint, the Sox have four go-to-guys that can win games and that will propel them in some ways. But I do not feel that their offense has enough to do it.
3. Detroit Tigers- KEY ACQ: OF Johnny Damon OF Austin Jackson RP Jose Valverde I LIKE: Rick Porcello- I believe he is 21, and last year I saw a ton of promise from him, I expect him to continue to grow and be in the convo for Cy Young. I HATE: Valverde/Damon- I think this was horrible offseason for the Tigers, I think both of their big guns will do little for them... Damon was awesome at a left-handed friendly Yankee Stadium and Valverde never pitched in the American League, which scares me. PREDICTION: They could contend for the AL Central title, but I think relying on Dontrelle Willis and Max Schrezer to carry your staff at certain points worries me.
4. Kansas City Royals- KEY ACQ: C Jason Kendall (yikes!) OF Scot Posednik OF Rick Ankiel SS Yuniesky Betancourt I LIKE: Billy Butler- He seems to be coming into his own as a hitter and I like the chances of him having a great season. I HATE: Trey Hillman batting Kendall second- Are you kidding me?! I would be so disappointed if I was a Royal fan. That is atrocious and a running joke for the first two months. PREDICTION: Zach Greinke will gain some victories for this team and they have a promising young staff that will probably earn some wins as well. It will all depend if the Royals are able to hit the baseball. Also watch for Joakim Soria to probably be on the move.
5. Cleveland Indians- KEY ACQ: OF LeBron James... oops actually they acquired practically no one. I LIKE: Fausto Carmona- Everything that I have read out of Spring Training says that he will have a big year for the Indians like he did 2008. I think he will be a small glimmer for the Indians this year. I HATE: Travis Hafner- He hasn't done anything in about two years and now just seems like a DH who probably will not withstand the entire season. PREDICTION: It could be an ugly one for the Indians comparable to the early Major League team and I could see Grady Sizemore on the move come July.

Rachel Phelps Owns the Indians
If you dont know where that reference is from that you havent watch enough Major League in your time therefore I am very disappointed in you. Anyways the reason I say that Phelps might own the real life Indians is they just like the Pittsburgh Pirates have traded away their cornerstones of the franchise in the past couple of days. First it was Cliff Lee and now its Victor Martinez who was dealt to the Red Sox.
For Cleveland, they did get pitching prospect Justin Masterston who should be pretty good for the Tribe. But this has to be the last deal made and try to rebuild the team back in Cleveland. That also means that General Manager Mark Sharpio and Manager Eric Wedge need to leave as well because to me they didnt nothing to help the situation. Remember that Cleveland was a game away from being in the World Series in 2007 and now they are one of the worst teams in baseball. That just doesnt happen overnight.
This was a huge deal for Boston because they have had no offense to save their soul in the past couple of weeks and it had appeared that the New York Yankees were ready to pull away with the division. As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend!" The Red Sox look poised to make another run at the American League East title and the American League Pennant. Martinez also brings a great clubhouse attitude to the team which I think is lacking with the BoSox who have the personality of brick wall. He is always smiling and gives every teammate a handshake after the game is over. To me that will help propel the Red Sox more than anything.

Lee Lands in Philly and Cleveland Continues the Torment
The Philadelphia Phillies have been the hottest team in baseball for the last month have maybe vaulted themselves into the top team in the National League by landing 2008 AL Cy Young Winner Cliff Lee from the Cleveland Indians.
The Phillies needed pitching for sure with a combined 4.68 ERA which is one of the worst in baseball. That has all changed with Lee because you have a vicious 1-2 punch of Lee and Cole Hamels who had a solid start two nights ago. The worry with the Phillies was they had a guy to go into game five or seven with but they didnt have the game four/six now they do with Lee. He has a 7-9 but has 3.14 ERA. I think a lot like CC Sabathia, his record doesnt reflect how good of a season he has. The other thing you have to factor is he will be playing in the National League for the first time which has usually worked for most teams.
