Bobby Bowden Hangs up the Sun Hat

Can someone confirmed that the thing he wears out to the games is known as a sun hat?  I am pretty sure I am right but just want this site to be as legit as possible.  If you have heard, another college coach is stepping down, the iconic Bobby Bowden.  Now I am not a big fan of Bowden, but you still have to respect the things he accomplished in his 34 years at Florida State.

If you look clearly on statistics, Bowden is the greatest coach in the past twenty-five years.  The fact that the Seminoles haven't missed a bowl game since 1981 is absolutely astounding if you think about it.  In College Football, every team has their down years where they may miss a bowl game but even when down still have enough to make the bowl games. This is another great stat; Bowden from 1987 to 2001 never had a team finished with more than two losses. Do not forget the two National Championships reeled in by Florida State in six years plus two runner-ups in that span then another one the following year.  If you are good at math that means 66% of the National Championships involved Florida State in six years.

People loved playing for Bowden at Florida State in the 80s and 90s BUT...

The 2000s hit. For whatever reasons places like Miami and Florida became more attractive.  Miami riddled with problems until the mid-90s finally got their shit together bringing in guys like Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Willis McGehee, Jonathan Vilma to name a few. Same with Florida once Urban Meyer got there with the spread is the sexy offense right now.  Bowden lost the ability to recruit for reasons we still do not know and probably will never know.

The reason why I do not like Bowden is because he never seemed clean.  Things that Bowden would do just made you think that the Seminoles just wanted to win, no matter the background of their players.  People would call them the CrimiNoles, and questioned Bowden's credibility. Anytime Bowden's players got in trouble, they just slid by like nothing happened and really didn't suffer punishments. Bowden recently got in trouble in an academic scandal, which was not his first either.

COMPLETE SIDENOTE: You may disagree but the Program is a fictitious representation of Florida State.  Same colors, same attitude, same sort of coach and you think I am crazy but watch the 1993 movie. The directors chose a team to get inspiration and it was Florida State.

I will never call Bobby Bowden the greatest college coach of the last 30 to 50 years because something isn't right and we do not know everything just like any other coach.  But I do not feel the same way about Joe Paterno, Coach K, Bobby Knight even, and any other historic coach in college sports.

PS: Jimbo Fisher if you do not go atleast 9-3 in your first year, welp see ya later, no doubt about it.

Trouble in Tallahassee

The big story in the last couple of days has been the uprising of Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden after the Noles have started out 2-3. I myself am not a huge fan of Bowden but I feel this something that needs to happen on his own terms.

The reason this all started was because a heralded booster (surprise, surprise) said that Bowden should resign at the end the year and this team has going downhill in the last ten years. Lets see here, 6 ACC Champions and a National Championship. Plus only two years which happen to be in 06 and 07, did the Noles not win eight games in a season. I find in absolutely absurd that they feel Florida State needs a change to make their team better.

In addition, think if Florida State came back to beat Miami in the opening game this season. The whole season for the Noles probably would have changed. The other thing I would like to bring up is the fact people wanted Joe Paterno out of Penn State after he had a couple bad years during the mid 2000 and now his team hovers around the top of the Big 10.
