Remember when it was cool to like DMX? I personally still do listen to him a lot in the gym because it gets me going but honestly, I feel this is a perfect title for the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow. Either, Josh McDaniels is a genius living in world where he becomes one of the best coaches in the NFL or he is "that guy" for drafting Tebow too high never living up to the expectations.
I can almost guarantee you this is how the pitch went from McDaniels to Denver Management....
"I want to trade up for Tebow because I think we need to install a type of leadership that hasn't been here since John Elway (you know he was used to bait them into this) and look what I did with Matt Cassel! He won 10 games for the Patriots in a tough as nails AFC East and we play in a dogshit AFC West with the Chargers on the way out, the Raiders who knows, and Chiefs are still building. Let's give Tebow two or three years and he will deliver."
People argued that Tebow will be no better than a third-string quarterback for the Broncos, which would make sense if he was a true pocket-passer. Look what he did for the Florida Gators his freshman year, he would be in on goal line sets and Wildcat stuff. The combination of Knoshown Moreno and Tebow in a backfield running a pseudo-Wildcat will be a scary thing in the NFL. Basically, it's a more powerful version of having Chris Johnson and Vince Young in the same backfield. Tebow will contribute to this team even if it's in minor ways at first. Also anyone worried about Tebow not taking direction from McDaniels is sadly mistaken.
The bromance that Tebow and McDaniels seem to have is could be the football version of "I Love You Man." They both gush about how great each other are and you know damn well that McDaniels will do everything in his power to make Tebow into a NFL quarterback. He is probably one of the most popular college athletes ever and it's never a lock they become a superstar in the pros although I believe McDaniels sees himself as the answer to all of Tebow's problems as a quarterback. I think he can do it too personally.
I am a big believer in guys who just win and do well no matter their disadvantages. The perfect example for the now is Stephen Curry. He is an undersized two-guard who really cannot play the point unless the offense features a score first point guard. People thought no way would he do anything in the NBA with his lack of size and honestly, he really isn't that quick. Yet Curry will probably be in the top four in Rookie of the Year when it's all said and done and he had a fantastic year with the Golden State Warriors. Tebow, I feel can have that same Curry dent into the Broncos in a couple of years because I think the NFL takes more time to develop than the NBA (reason #1 why first year players aren't allowed out). Trust me, Tebow will succeed.

Marshall Heads to the 305
A couple days after the New York Jets brought in a troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes, the Miami Dolphins did their own version by bringing in Brandon Marshall. Even though, the Phins had to give up more to get him, Marshall > Holmes without any doubt in my mind.
In the past couple of years, I thought Marshall seemed like a head case and a guy who was much more of a distraction than a helpful member of my team. Then when I learned that Marshall might have had a lot to do with Darrent Williams' death a couple years back and that Denver area brings back those memories. I cannot help but to feel for Marshall in that situation, although the domestic abuse stuff I cannot stand for or put up with. BUT will he make the Dolphins better and make a super competitive AFC East... yes it does.
If you click on the Marshall label at the end of the post, you will see that I haven't been the biggest Marshall fan but I will not argue against his huge numbers in three consecutive seasons, I mean these are numbers that are so hard to argue with. It's really hard to believe that the Denver Broncos had to part ways with him.
First off having 100 receptions in three straight games is pretty impressive meaning that he will be a reliable guy for whoever is his quarterback. I have wondered a couple times if Marshall made Jay Cutler a better quarterback than he really was? (Somewhere Fant is smashing his head on the keyboard) I think the same thing is going to happen with Chad Henne. I always thought when he played at Michigan that he had a chance to be a very good quarterback. He hasn't had a receiver to save his soul in his full year and I am going to say Henne will have a break-out year.
The other thing I like about Marshall is he isn't just getting a bunch of catches, rather he is averaging over 10 yards a catch and obviously, this means that Marshall is getting a first down most of the time he is catching the ball. That is a huge assist to your team and this probably means he is doing big things after he catches the football. He averaged 5.4 and ended up in the top five in YAC in 2009 this season, arguably one of the biggest assists for a team to have. The other thing that Marshall does especially for the Dolphins is that opposing defenses cannot crowd the box to stop the rushing attack of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams like teams did the last couple of years. You do have to wonder if as the years go on, will Tony Sparano be better in the time management category and play calling?
Now, the Patriots have to do something I believe because if they do not, I think they will finish no higher than third. The Phins now have a powerful offense with a pretty solid defense who added Karlos Dansby from the Arizona Cardinals and we already went over a couple of days ago about how good the New York Jets will be next year. The ball is in The Hooded One corner and if he stubbornly goes through the draft plus the next couple of months, that will be the official end of the Patriots dynasty.

Brady Quinn... The Next Sports Figure to Breaks Cleveland's Heart
For those who do not know, Cleveland-Denver have had a classic rivalry in the eighties with the Browns losing three out of four AFC Championship Games to the Broncos in the late 80s. With games like Ernest Byner fumbling on the goal line, or John Elway signature moment (before the Super Bowl wins) known as "The Drive." The Broncos have tormented the Browns hearts, I believe this will happened again in the near future with the recent trade of Brady Quinn.
The Cleveland Browns and their new head boss Mike Holmgren decided to get rid of Quinn and Derek Anderson in favor of Jake Delhomme... Yeah that makes sense. The Browns dealt Quinn to the Denver Broncos receiving basically a bag of potatoes. I personally think this is a huge mistake and could be the another chapter in the Broncos breaking the hearts of Clevlenad fans.
While I agree that Quinn has not been as good of a quarterback that I expected and others probably thought when he first came out of Notre Dame. But the team around Quinn hasn't been worth a damn, therefore I feel it is hard to determine how good he really is. I do agree that Quinn might be a bit soft compared to others and that has been proved to be a problem with Josh McDaniels.
McDaniels is the major reason why Quinn will excel. Look at the way, he molded Johnathan Mox.. er Matt Cassel after Tom Brady went down with injury. I think he is a great offensive mastermind and Brandon Marshall likely is out of Denver so it will be a rebuilding process for the next couple of years. Quinn and Knowshon Moreno are both great building blocks to start a franchise with and they could still win the AFC West with the San Diego Chargers looking worst, and the uncertainty of the Oakland Raiders/Kansas City Chiefs.

Turkey Day NFL Picks
Alright since my post total is low, I am just going to do the three picks and then a new one on Sunday to save room for any other thoughts during this week.
Green Bay (6-4) at Detroit (2-8)- Well this is coming to after the wonderful start for the Packers and the Lions want this game bad, this scares me a lot. Matthew Stafford is a complete warrior playing with a separate shoulder. We will sweat this game out entirely. GB 24-21
Oakland (3-7) at Dallas (7-3)- I really believe the Raiders will give Dallas a run for their money. I think Bruce Gradowski brought some life into this team and the Cowboys are prime for their December swoon, its close enough to happen. I think the home team pulls it out in another close game. DAL 27-21
NY Giants (6-4) at Denver (6-4)- A must win for both teams especially for the Giants if the Cowboys and Packers win earlier in the day. Is Kyle Orton playing? A good question to ask but I think the Broncos will play inspired at home featuring another close game. DEN 21-17

Orange Crush are Back
Well I am wrong again. This happens a lot when you make a ton of predictions but no excuses made. I made this comment... "With everything that has happened and that is continuing to happen, isn't inevitable with that schedule Denver will be drafting top five? I think so." I took the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders ahead of them shoot me now. Both of them are worst off than someone who pisses off Hank Moody.
I honestly cannot believe how successful the Broncos have been so far and it's not like they are beating cupcakes in the NFL. I thought there is no chance that Kyle Orton can actually lead a team to be a playoff contender or maybe.... a Super Bowl Contender. But I really should have looked at it more closely, I mean McDainels was apart of a team that made Matt Cassel into a star last season. Orton wasn't horrible in Chicago and the other thing he never had a receiver like Brandon Marshall. I still think the guy is a thug but he can play football. Marshall is as physical as anyone in the league and he makes plays unlike most in the NFL right now.
The other thing the Broncos have going for them is a punishing 3-4 defense led by Elvis Dumervil who moved to OLB, a shift that some haven't made that smoothly (paging Aaron Kampman) and then corner back Champ Bailey has been stellar showing signs of his great play in years past. The defense is the real reason why the Broncos are off to a 5-0 start.
The final thing the Broncos have going for them is a young, energetic coach. I hated the Broncos for beating the Packers in the Super Bowl but honestly, I cannot hate no longer. I love the emotion Josh McDainels showed after beating the teacher last weekend and he is a guy I would absolutely love to play for.

NFL Preview: AFC South/AFC West
And after this one we are done leading to a couple things that happened today then picks for both NCAA/NFL hopefully on time.
AFC South
1. Indianapolis Colts: Key Players- QB Peyton Manning WR Reggie Wayne RB Joesph Addai Key Games- vs. Seattle (10/4) at/vs Tennessee (10/11, 12/6) vs/at Houston (11/8, 11/29) vs. New England (11/15) at Baltimore (11/22) Outlook- My roommate and die hard Manning fan Brett is worried about their O-Line but I think they will once again reclaim the AFC South. Although due to the hard divison, they will finish in the fourth spot in the AFC.
2. Tennessee Titans: Key Players- RB Chris Johnson CB Courtland Finnegan LB Keith Bulluck Key Games- at Pittsburgh (9/10) vs/at Houston (9/20, 11/23) vs/at Indianapolis (10/11, 12/6) at New England (10/18) vs. San Diego (12/25) at Seattle (1/3) Outlook- The big question is will Kerry Collins relive the year he had in 08? I think he can with the combination of Johnson/LenDale White I think will be too much for most teams. They beat out Houston for the sixth spot.
3. Houston Texans: Key Players- WR Andre Johnson QB Matt Schaub LB DeMeco Ryans Key Games- at/vs Tennessee (9/20, 11/23) at/vs Indianapolis (11/8, 11/29) vs. Seattle (12/13) vs. New England (1/3) Outlook- Honestly they could have a chance sneaking in with all the weak teams they play this year but they will fall just short of the Titans.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Key Players- RB Maurice Jones-Drew QB David Garrard DT John Henderson Key Games- at/vs Indianapolis (9/13, 12/17 ) vs/at Tennessee (10/4, 11/1) at New England (12/27) Outlook- Its not off to a good start with MJD questionable this week but they have no support through the air. Jack Del Rio will be gone after this one.

The Chargers should coast and the first four games will tell us a lot about the Bolts.

Brandon Marshall Situation has Turned Ugly
First off, I would like to say "Live from Eau Claire, its the Corner!" No complaints so far, I almost took out the bathroom lights but figured it out as if my name was Doc Brown. Anyways on with the developing story on Denver Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall's unhappiness with the team and now it has took another turn. He didnt travel with the team to Seattle which is a big fat rut-roh.
The week began with Marshall getting demoted to scout team which for those who dont know, its what Rudy did throughout his career at the University of Notre Dame. In addition, that led Marshall to saying that "he hasnt even learned the playbook." Which for most Bronco fans probably had a complete heart attack when hearing this. I also would like to say that Marshall has been very arrogant throughout this whole process because in my opinion, one could argue that the now Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler made Marshall's career.
I think there is without a shout of a doubt that Marshall will be traded. I think a team like the Baltimore Ravens or Tennessee Titans could really value a guy like Marshall's play making ability. Marshall in my opinion is a bigger problem on a team than a guy like Terrell Owens or Chad Ocho Cinco. All you have to look at is his laundry list of crimes.
The Broncos should understand that they not only have a brutal schedule but their team isnt that strong. Why worry about a guy like Marshall who will be angry that he is on a bad team? It depends on how bad Denver will be but they can draft a guy like Texas' Colt McCoy or Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. I am sure this isnt the last we have heard about Marshall.

Brandon Marshall is a Crybaby
The oft-trouble maker Brandon Marshall, wider receiver for the Denver Broncos now seeks a trade and has become very unhappy. He is unhappy about his contract and he doesnt really want the Broncos taking care of his surgically-repaired hip.
I personally cannot stand Marshall for his antics off the field where he has multiple times been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and has seemed to walk away with a clean slate. He is a hell of a player dont get me wrong and has really never created any riffs with the Denver front office until now when it comes to him. The off-field stuff I think would drive teams away from wanting to have Marshall on their roster then again it is the NFL and there were teams who gave PacMan Jones a second chance after nearly killing a guy. In addition Swiss Plaxico Burress will get a job sometime in the near future and he is more than likely heading to jail (more on this in a later post about Donte Stallworth).
I think the Dallas Cowboys would take a chance on Marshall even with Roy Williams being there. I would also throw the New York Giants in that mix despite their continued headaches with Burress. The Giants were a different team when Burress didnt play and it made them just a middle of the road ball club. The Titans who havent really done anything with their receiver situation would be another nice fit for Marshall. Also the Vikings have always been open for taking guys who are headcases.
In my opinion, the Broncos will deal Marshall because I firmly believe that the Bronco franchise wants to start over completely. They got rid of Mike Shanahan, Jay Cutler, and now Marshall may be the final piece. If they realize that they will not have a great two years and then improve with draft picks/free agent signings.

I personally cannot stand Marshall for his antics off the field where he has multiple times been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and has seemed to walk away with a clean slate. He is a hell of a player dont get me wrong and has really never created any riffs with the Denver front office until now when it comes to him. The off-field stuff I think would drive teams away from wanting to have Marshall on their roster then again it is the NFL and there were teams who gave PacMan Jones a second chance after nearly killing a guy. In addition Swiss Plaxico Burress will get a job sometime in the near future and he is more than likely heading to jail (more on this in a later post about Donte Stallworth).
I think the Dallas Cowboys would take a chance on Marshall even with Roy Williams being there. I would also throw the New York Giants in that mix despite their continued headaches with Burress. Jay Cutler Go Away Now.
Jay Cutler story needs to die rather quickly because I am sick of it. Its getting to the point where its out of control and we seemingly hear about it every five days.
If you didnt hear yesterday, the Broncos decided to trade last year's Pro Bowler Jay Cutler after Josh McDaniels-Cutler relationship never got off to a good start and now the new coach has put his ass on the line before his first game as a head coach. In addition, they have a whole new slew of problems to deal with as well.
The first problem that McDaniels has to deal with is.. whose going to be the quarterback next year? Chris Simms is their backup right now which probably will not work out for Denver. Bill Williamson of ESPN.com had some ideas which I like a couple of them... Jeff Gracia would not be a bad idea for one or two year guy until someone else comes along. I also like the idea of getting Matt Sanchez if they can trade up to do it. Another plan being thrown out there is getting one of the Cleveland quarterbacks Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson.
It seems like Washington wants Cutler bad which I could see for the sole fact, they spent the most money in the offseason and they want immediate results. Jason Campbell is a good player but he isnt Cutler. I would assume that Campbell gets traded to Denver if the deal is done. Also I dont understand why Detroit isnt actively perusing this deal. I would be offering the word to Denver to try to bring a franchise guy who would get the fans legitimately excited about the Lions. The Jets are another team would I believe will throw their name in the hat.
When the chips are down, this a "Brett Favre" situation to a much lesser degree but if it blows up in Denver's faces that will could very well create problems with McDaniels and the fans of the Broncos. They better hope they get a quarterback who can make sure Denver doesnt miss a beat.

Jay Cutler Likes To Cry
"This culminates in an awkward stage comparable to waking up with a three when you thought she was an eight." My original post about the new NFL Crybaby himself Jay Cutler. Well when Pat Bowlen, owner of the Denver Broncos and Josh McDainels, new head coach of Denver had a conference call with Cutler this week.
Jay Cutler you need to shut the hell up right now. This isnt helping your image and its not making you look tough for standing up to the Broncos. He is hurt yes, but there is no reason why he needs to display to the public. As I have said before, it makes him look S-O-F-T. You cannot keep crying like this and expect a team to stand behind this joker.
The thing Cutler needs to realize that the NFL business and they were just feeling out the market to see what was available for him. Whats wrong with that? He is not an established quarterback just yet, Cutler doesnt have a landmark victory or even made the playoffs. Just because he has all this hype by no means that he doesnt get a crown to tell the Broncos what they can, and cannot do.
I myself was never a big Cutler guy but I really now am not a Cutler fan. I hope he has an awful year.

Denver and Cutler Need to Hug It Out
Denver and Jay Cutler are not happy with each other right now. This all stems from the Broncos new regime deciding to shop Jay Cutler in the last weekend.
There are two things that I will draw out of this, the first one is that Jay Cutler is acting like a baby right now. He is going "aw shucks, I am hurt by all of this talk about Denver not wanting me to play for their team anymore." Heres the deal Cutler you looked soft when Phillip Rivers punked your ass two years ago, granted it made Rivers look like a tool to most of us but still he had the confidence you want in a quarterback. I like Cutler's skill set as a quarterback and does some really nice things out on the field. But I really question his leadership ability and needs to be more assertive if he wants to succeed.
That leads to my next point which is Josh McDaniels was trying to make a big statement by saying well Cutler hasnt got it done for us in the past couple of years so we are going to listen to offers to see if anyone is interested. Which there was some interest in Tampa where there were rumors of a 1st and 3rd rounder offered for Cutler but according to Mike Lombardi of Pro Football Post via the BS Report the trigger wasnt pulled fast enough. Free Agency Weekend Wrap-up
I think this will be easiest way because I know they are a lot of deals that went down and I dont think they all deserve their own separate post. So here we go....
WINSLOW TO THE BUCS- On Friday, the first big deal went down with Kellen Winslow going to the Buccaneers. I like this deal for the Browns because they get rid of a guy who I dont believe wanted to be in Cleveland and I truly believe you can find a reliable tight end pretty easily. It also helps the Buccaneers because they havent had much offense production especially at the tight end posistion but then again, you have to deal with a guy who proclaim himself as a solider.
DAWKINS TO THE BRONCOS- More articles on the Broncos to come in the upcoming days but they signed a thirty-five year old Brian Dawkins to a five year deal worth around 19 million. Granted, Dawkins is a beast and one of the best safeties in the league although I would be upset if my team gave a five year deal to a guy whose 35. Doesnt make sense to be at all and trust me, the Broncos are the most confusing so far in the Free Agency season.
BROOKING TO THE COWBOYS- Keith Brooking an 11 year starter and three time Pro-Bowl will now be a Cowboy. He inked a deal for three years and I am assuming he will be filling the role that Zach Thomas left when he retired after this season. Not a bad deal for the Cowboys, he had 100+ tackles last year and helped Atlanta get to the playoffs. He also is a good influence in the locker room.
CANTY TO THE GIANTS- Chris Canty got a huge deal from the Giants who are in need of third defensive lineman and with Osi Umenyiora probably going to retire soon, the deal made sense. He was rumored to go to the Packers so I am sort of sad we missed out on Canty whose a huge defensive end at 6'7
SCOTT TO THE JETS- Bart Scott followed his former defensive coordinator Rex Ryan to the New York Jets signing a six year 48 million dollar deal. It always seems the Jets do all the right things in the offseason and this is a great decision by them. Scott knows how Ryan's defense works and he is a good leader in the locker room.
TAYLOR TO THE PATS- Fred Taylor is know the newest member of "Running Backs ending their career in Boston." It seems every year the Pats bring in a new 30+ year old running back and usually he has great success. I hope Taylor does too, I have always been a fan of his and wish him the best of luck.

Broncos Go Young for No Reason
The Broncos hired former New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. I didnt realize that McDaniels is only the ripe age of thirty-one years old. I hope the Broncos know what they are doing because right now, I really dont believe they are.
A couple reasons because of this... 1. The New England Coordinators success as head coaches hasnt been a great choice for teams like New York, Cleveland (maybe x2), and you could say Notre Dame at the moment. Yes I know that McDaniels made Matt Cassel into a Pro Bowler this year but Jay Cutler is already a franchise-ready quarterback. 2. Mike Nolan, unless the Broncos decide to overhaul their defense with a bunch of talent they will be just as bad as they were last year. Nolan was a great defensive coach when he had the likes of Ed Reed and Ray Lewis.
I wrote earlier how I felt that Mike Shanahan shouldnt have been fired in the first place. They should have just relieved his General Manager duties and if he didnt let it, he could leave.
