Why on earth did you fire Tommy Tuberville?
Auburn just made a drastic move that will come with them not succeeding for a couple years because I really dont see a coach that can make it better than what Tuberville did at Auburn. Lets take a look... 85 wins in 10 years, 7-3 against Alabama, 5-5 against Georgia/LSU which are two other big rivals of Auburn. He also has been very successful in bowl games so its not like he is slacking there neither. He was a pretty solid recruiter bringing in guys like Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, and Marcus McNeil. Where learning doesnt happen (the SEC) he had 2o players with at least 3.0s and had a pretty good graduation rate. You never heard about the Tigers getting into much trouble because Tuberville held them to a high standard.
Auburn has always seemed to not be the fondest of Coach Tuberville as they set up meetings with Bobby Petrino in 2003 with the chance that Tuberville was getting the axed. Every year it seems like you hear Auburn or Clemson's coaches are on the hot seat and would you look at that, both go this year. The boosters want a "Nick Saban" hiring and I am sorry you will not get that Auburn, they arent tops in the SEC for coaching jobs see Bama, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia.
The SEC is a big revolving door because if I was Mississippi State, I would already have a job offer ready for Tuberville. Do what the other team in Mississippi did, clean up the mistakes of your rivals. Look at Ole Miss, hired Houston Nutt and got them to a bowl game (First time since 2003). This coaching pattern in the SEC will drive some coaches away, I will guarantee that.
Best of luck to Tuberville and for Auburn better hope someone has some NFL connections.

Charlie Weis Still Employed
Notre Dame announced earlier today that Charlie Weis will be back for another year at the helm of Notre Dame football.
This is a great choice by Notre Dame to keep Weis for another year because they give Weis a chance to either earn/lose his job with some of his best players coming back for next year and they no longer look like a carousel of coaching. In addition, with an easy schedule coming up next season, they could find themselves in a BCS bowl once again.
Look at the players that are coming back for sure... Starting quarterback Jimmy Clausen, running backs Armando Allen, and Robert Hughes starting wide receivers Michael Floyd, Golden Tate. That alone looks promising plus they have 84 underclassmen.
In my opinion, they should try to bring Bill Callahan back to the college game to coach the offensive line or someone that could make a difference for that line. Also assuming Romeo Crennel gets fired from the Cleveland Browns, do you think Weis calls up his old buddy to see if he wants to coach defense in the college game?
Also some guy in the conversations of ESPN posted Notre Dame's schedule for next year...

USC Might Be Cocky...
One of the stories today that was pretty interesting to me was that Pete Carroll agreed to forfeit two timeouts so his Trojan team could wear their Red home uniforms on the road against UCLA on Saturday.
Granted, Carroll and Rick Neuheisel, head coach of UCLA agreed to doing this because in 1982 when both teams played in the Los Angeles Collisum, they would both wear the home uniforms and it was sort of the tradition to have the teams both wearing their home jerseys.
I think its a bit cocky by the Trojans as they are giving them one of their three timeouts in the second half which could prove to be vital if the game is close although that isnt expected as USC defense looks tougher than most UFC fighters. I dont know if I was a coach I would just give up two timeouts when I have a Pac-10 title on the line. Also if I was Neuheisel, this would be a complete motivational tool as the team shows "no respect to us"

Speaking of Suspensions
Finally the NFL struck down on the "diet pills" issue and they came down hard when teams didnt need it.
Deuce McAllister, Will Smith of New Orleans, Pat and Kevin Williams of Minnesota are now suspended for the last four games of the year.
For the Saints, McAllister isnt a huge lost because Pierre Thomas has been playing well as of late and Reggie Bush should be returning to the starting lineup soon. But what it does do is unless of a home playoff game (highly unlikely) results that Deuce has played his last game in New Orleans. A sad story for a guy who is the franchise leader in rushing touchdown and a guy whose been a large part of the franchise for the last ten years. Smith is a good player and his rush on defense will be missed as well.
For the Vikings, they get to enjoy their division lead for maybe a day as they give a big rut-roh as they now face some tough opponents in Arizona and Atlanta with mighty tough rush offense. Now they are without arguably top of the top ten defensive tackles for the rest of the season. Does this smell like a typical Viking December collapse, I think so.

Burress Saga Continues
Well we might have a reason for why Plaxico Burress had a gun on him.
Steve Smith of the New York Giants revealed that he was robbed at gun-point in the early morning as his driver brought him home from the club. Burress said that he felt threaten going to the club with what happened with Smith.
If that was the case why dont you stay the hell at home?!
Now Burress has been suspended for four games which is the right thing to do by the New York Giants because the distraction of Burress is taken away which is a good thing. Not only that but they put him on the non-football injury list which denies Burress any chance to play in the playoffs. Granted the gunshot wound would have put him out for four to six weeks.

Hey Coach, Its Plax... I Might Be Goin' to Jail
Well this story has gained more strength than more people doing steriods. If you didnt want ESPN or look anywhere online today, Plaxico Burress turned himself in a New York City Police Department today.
It appears that he illegially had a firearm who would of guessed it, I thought he registered that one. Oh yeah, would you look at that, it would result in two felony counts in the great state of New York. Also NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg said that Plaxico Burress should do the usual 3 years and 15 days that most do for the crimes Burress has committed. Rut roh. I guess the positive is that he has the same lawyer P. Diddy and most mobsters use. In Diddy's case, he got acquitted of all charges.
I know that NFL player needs to protect himself these days with the death of Sean Taylor and everything but why on earth, do you carry a bunch of cash and wear expensive jewelry into a club. Yeah, yeah you gotta look good, gotta make it rain but it could buy the same amount of drinks with your Platinum card, probably still look like the shit with one gold chain. Burress didnt need to go the "Pacman Route", he is such a better player with real talent and now he is completely grouped with the Moss, Owens, Ocho Cincos of the world. Also why were you fumbling with a loaded gun? I would like to think the worst in this situation, that someone was coming at Burress so he got to his loaded gun to defend himself. Its the only logical reason for why he was messing with his gun.
But in the modern day society, haven't NFL players become more human with guys like Michael Vick in prison and PacMan Jones getting suspended for various things. Doesnt it seem like people dont give a shit that they played for an NFL team? Lets go back to PacMan too, he used a firearm illegally as well and he got suspended for a whole year for it. It would be only right that Burress would face the same consequences that Jones did.

Big East Rough Weekend and A Look Ahead in College Basketball
Now that December is upon us, I will be doing the usual top 25 matchups for college basketball for Saturday/Sunday and still keep up with College Football as well. Me and Mitch Pratt of Boom Business are going to be having a sports talk show on Friday or Saturday and I would hope the video is up by Monday, so look for that.
Two of the Big East's top 25 took a tumble on Saturday and Sunday as my Marquette Golden Eagles fell to a solid Dayton Flyers team. Granted, they are still in the A-10 and its a game MU should have had, MU needs more bench points to be successful and cannot rely on the three point shot to solve problems as they went 4/20. Hopefully this knocks Marquette down to earth a bit, and gears them up for the huge weekend against Wisconsin in the Bradley Center. Thankfully it wasnt as nasty as the 14 point beating Louisville suffered as they could not make a basket to save their soul and were beaten by Western Kentucky. Always need to show their mascot, Big Red. No way should the Cards have lost to this team and by that margin, the Hiltoppers are a usual NCAA team. But they are nowhere near the level of a no. 3 team in that nation.
Now a look ahead to this week games which include the ACC Big 10 Beatdown, er.. I mean Challenge.
Tonight: 22. Wisconsin at Virgina Tech- A game that worries me as a MU fan because I would hate for them to lose tonight then play MU on Saturday. The Hokies arent bad, losing two tourney games on a half-court buzzer-beater and a four-point defeat to Seton Hall. This is Wisconsin's first true road test of the season and they will need a big effort out of Marcus Landry or Trevon Hughes to be successful. I think the Badgers squeak it out, barley. UW 60-59
Tuesday: Ohio State at 23. Miami (FL)- Should be an interesting match-up with Jack McClinton and Jon Diebler going head-to-head, also our first look at B.J. Mullins who is the typical white big man with unnecessary tattoos. I think the U should get it done as this is the Buckeyes first real challenge of the season. MIA 72-61
4. Duke at 10. Purdue- A great matchup and one that is surprising as the Dukies usually never play at home arenas for the ACC/Big 10. This one could be a shootout on all accounts with both teams being top-tier 3 point shooters and Purdue is a lot better than I first though as they played Oklahoma to the wire. I think the Dukies prevail but its going to be close all the way through. DUKE 79-75
Wednesday: 1. North Carolina at 12. Michigan State- This game lost some luster as the Spartans lost to Maryland this past weekend but I think this is the true barometer to see how good Michigan State really is plus maybe if the Tar Heels wipe out the Spartans, how good are they? While, I think it will be close for most of the game, watch for Wayne Ellington to pull this one away for Carolina late. UNC 84-73
Thursday: USC at 6. Oklahoma- Part of the Big 12/Pac 10 Hardwood series and the Trojans are not off to the best start but they could reclaim that if they could win in Norman. I have said that Blake Griffin looks a bit like Brook Lopez and what do you know? He has a receding hair-line brother on the team. So a less goofy, less hairy Lopez combination! Anyways, I think Blake will be able to handle Taj Gibson and they will win going away. OKLA 68-54
9. UCLA at 8. Texas- Another game a part of this series as the Bruins look to rebound after their tough lost to Michigan last week. Both teams really dont have a big man and while one relies on their shooting, the other relies on their defense. It should be a battle but I will take defense over offense in most cases. UCLA 59-57
