There is much to talk about in the NBA for the offseason and its still early. If you remember I gushed about how much I enjoy the NBA now and want to be more involved with it as the year goes on. Heres what has happened so far via the great people at Wissports and various sources.
-Toronto resigned Jose Calderon which is a great choice for them. He is a true playmaker out there and a true point guard. I think the Raptors were very wise in dealing the oft-injured TJ Ford. It will be interesting to see Calderon at the helm for most of the game.
-Baron Davis signing with the Clippers. It wasnt a shocker to me that Davis left. He didnt get along with Nellie and LA is his home town. Everyone who likes the "other team in LA" was pumped to see this happen because they thought of their playoffs possibility with Brand and host of the others.... BUT
-Elton Brand goes and signs with the Sixers. Wow another dump taken on the Clippers. He claims it wasnt about the low-ball offer and that he didnt tell Davis he was on his way back to LA. He is a class act in the community but in my opinion, as a big man he didnt want to see the punishment that was involved with playing the Western Conference. He likely got caught up in all the hype.
-Corey Maggette was the next Clippers to jump ship to the Golden State Warriors where they get another athletic players who should help them out with their defense but I am not ready to believe Monta Ellis can be a true point guard.
-Designa Diop reups with the Mavs which isnt a surprise because he is their true defense stopper in the paint. I cant believe a guy who scores only 5 a game nets 30 mil over 5 years. Thats a hell of life if you ask me.
-Chris Paul signed an extension to his contract which is good for New Orleans because they have two class acts in Paul and Reggie Bush leading their franchises into success. I hope all the best for Paul and I bet an MVP is his in a couple years.
-According to WSN, Chris Duhon signed a deal with the New York Knicks and got the starting point guard promised to him. I didnt realize that Duhon was an every day player and really think the Knicks could of got someone better later on in the offseason. Then again, it is the Knicks.
-The most important to Wisconsin, Andrew Bogut signed an extension with the Bucks keeping him for 5 more years. Good, in my opinion he is the centerpiece to this franchise and can really make a difference to this team down the road. I hope they can get rid of Mo Williams and hopefully that will lead to playoff year for the Bucks.
